For as long as I can remember, I have slept with two pillows: a firm, supportive one on the bottom and a sumptuously smushy one on top. I thought that was the only way to get the combination of supportive and soft that I need if I’m going to get my optimal eight hours of shuteye. Every night before bed, I’d arrange the pillows for maximum comfort and support, and I’d flip the top pillow to the cool side at least twice throughout the night when my ear got sweaty. Well, my friends, that long, involved process was before the Latex Pillow from Saatva came into my life. This hotel-quality pillow has totally changed the way I approach my sleep setup. In fact, it’s such a special find that it was awarded the title of Best Luxe Pillow on Apartment Therapy’s Best List. Let me tell you why.

The Saatva Latex Pillow combines the best of both types of pillows into one substantial sleep accessory that’s at once soft and super supportive. Just looking at it in my room makes me want to flop into bed ASAP, the way you feel when you open the door of an uber-chic-yet-comfy-looking hotel room. And once you lay your head down, it only gets better.
I tend to sleep a bit erratically, switching between my stomach, back, and side, and the Saatva pillow accommodates me comfortably no matter what position I’m in. Crafted with an organic cotton cover, shredded latex fill, and a microdenier fiber inner pillow that feels as plush as down but without all of the, well, downsides, this pillow is a step forward in sleep technology. It’s incredibly durable and long lasting, and since the fill remains spread consistently rather than bunching, it’s supportive all night long. Gone are the days of waking up with a stiff neck because I somehow lost one pillow during the night! And since the Saatva Latex Pillow is more breathable than synthetic pillows, it never gets too hot or makes my head sweat. I don’t even have to turn it over to find the cool side — it’s all cool.
Saatva’s high-quality pillow is also treated to remove allergy-causing irritants, so you can rest easy that it’s good for everyone in the house. It’s also CertiPUR-US certified, as well as resistant to dust and mildew. When it does need a cleaning, just toss it into the washing machine. It’s kind of like discovering that your favorite sparkly evening dress has pockets and is machine washable. Score!
The Latex Pillow is available in Queen and King sizes. At $165 a piece, it’s definitely pricey, but in my well-rested opinion, it’s totally worth the splurge. I know I’m going to be comfortably laying my head down on mine for years to come. Sweet dreams, indeed.

I first heard of Bearaby last year when my then-coworker was raving about Bearaby’s chic (and now immensely popular) weighted blankets. When I heard that Bearaby was adding a new product to their collection, I knew that I had to try it for myself. The Cuddler, which launched today, is a body pillow made out of plant-based Melofoam. It was designed specifically for side sleepers, those who experience back, neck, or joint pain or discomfort, and pregnant people. I tick the first two out of those three boxes and have been hunting for a pillow that’ll help bring my tight and knotted back into alignment.

I have never been a flexible person, but my sedentary lifestyle during the pandemic wreaked havoc on my back — so much so that I go to Stretch*d twice a month to loosen my muscles up. Mornings are when my spine feels the stiffest, so I figured the tossing and turning and bad sleep positions each night were probably one of culprits. I had tried resting a throw pillow underneath my knee to keep my hips even, but it wasn’t supportive enough.
By contrast, the Cuddler is the perfect mix of squishy and supportive, thanks to its ergonomic design. It doesn’t feel so soft that my knee is sinking to the mattress in the middle of night, defeating the purpose of using the pillow in the first place, or so firm that I am uncomfortable and unable to sleep. The Cuddler comes with a removable and breathable 100% cotton cover.
What I love best about this body pillow, though, is that you can tie it into a knot. The body pillow in its long shape is a little too big for my full-size bed, which I share with my boyfriend. Until we upgrade to a bigger bed (and perhaps a larger apartment), this pillow is knotted. Just a note that knotting it is a little bit of a struggle at first, but now I can easily knot it if it becomes undone. In its knotted position, it doesn’t take up any extra space. It did take a few nights to get used to sleeping with it, though.
After using the body pillow for a week, I did notice a difference in my spine and hips. I didn’t feel as stiff and tense (even my Stretch*r noticed). I also feel more well-rested. The pillow has become so comforting, I even use it when I watch TV or read — I unknot it to its full form to prop up my head or arm while laying down. Although it is a little pricey, I think it’s well worth it if you toss and turn or struggle to get the proper support for your hips.

The 21st century certainly has its disadvantages. Amid skyrocketing temperatures and an abundance of tiny (but not always affordable) apartments, it can be easy to feel emotionally drained. Sometimes, however, I think about how our forebears had it much worse in many ways. For example, it used to be common practice for pillows and mattresses to be stuffed with straw, animal hair, and other not comfortable materials. In remembering this, I feel blessed to live in a time of so much technological and textile innovation. Not only do I not have to wake up at the crack of dawn to work on the farm, I’m also not subjected to backache-inducing sleep on a lumpy sack beforehand. If anything, the plethora of cooling, moisture-wicking, foam, organic, and further customizable bedding essentials on the market practically prohibits anything but a relaxing night’s rest.

What’s more, AT editors are constantly testing and sharing different home products in a variety of categories, including bedding, to help you determine the best fit for your own space. Not too long ago, AT commerce managing editor Ivy Ford tried out Tuft & Needle’s original foam pillow, and it completely changed the way she sleeps. “I found myself actually excited to go to sleep because I love my Tuft & Needle so much,” she wrote. “At $100, it’s still an investment purchase, but at a much more affordable price point than some options that run upwards of $150 — and the quality is seriously top-notch.” Now, you can actually get the original foam pillow for $85 instead of $100.
What makes this pillow a standout even amid pricier alternatives is that its firm, adaptive foam material conforms to your body, providing support all night long. Tuft & Needle customers appear to be nothing short of pleased with their purchases. “I’m kind of stunned at how great this pillow is,” one buyer wrote. “I am a back and side sleeper, and it’s hard to find a pillow that’s good for both, but I’m super happy with it.” When Ivy slept on the original foam pillow, she found that it somehow managed to hold her head and neck in a comfortable position, yet it was soft enough to sink into. “If you’re looking for a medium-firm or a medium-plush feel, this is a perfect pick,” she shared. Additionally, the pillow contains graphite and cooling gel beads that pull heat away, and its smooth cover is super breathable. It seems like this product has it all. Don’t miss out while it’s on sale!
