Here at Apartment Therapy, we pride ourselves on never missing out on a Nordstrom sale. After all, the mega-retailer has basically everything you could want to shop — from trendy clothes and home accessories to the latest and greatest cookware and kitchen gadgets. It’s pretty much our duty to scope out the best deals, right?

Their latest fall sale is no exception, coming at the perfect time to stock up on a few seasonal refreshes for our homes and upgrade to the kitchen gear we’ve been eyeing all year ahead of the holiday baking frenzy. For a limited time only (September 24 to October 4 — write that down!), Nordstrom is offering up to 30 percent off of some must-have products and brands like All-Clad, Jo Malone, Casper, and more. You’re going to want to act fast, though — like most sales at Nordstrom, the good stuff won’t last long, and you don’t want to end up sad and without a cozy throw blanket to keep you company this fall (aw). Here’s what we’re eyeing for our wish lists:

This Seriously Chic Layering Blanket Makes My Seasonal Bedding Transitions so Much Easier

This Seriously Chic Layering Blanket Makes My Seasonal Bedding Transitions so Much Easier

When the weather starts to get chilly, there’s always one cardigan in my closet that I reach for to start the slow-but-steady layering process — and recently, I found the absolute perfect blanket to start doing the same thing for my bedding. After all, swapping out your sheets, quilts, and/or comforter when the seasons change isn’t a one-and-done, finite activity. It’s an ongoing transition where you usually have to keep feeling your way around to ensure that you’re staying warm — but not too warm — as the temps drop (because it usually doesn’t make sense to put on your flannel duvet cover before Halloween’s even here). That’s where the ultra-cozy, ultra-stylish, non-bulky Coyuchi Cascade Organic Matelasse Blanket comes in. It’ll be your easy answer to that layering process, not just from fall to winter, but for every other seasonal transition, too.

When I got the opportunity to try this GOTS certified blanket, I knew it would likely be a great throw, since I’m a fan of so many of the brand’s other high-quality bedding products and comfy apparel. What I didn’t know was just how much I’d love it and what a clear purpose it would serve in my bedroom.

The super-fine, 100 percent organic cotton blanket arrived in a reusable, organic cloth drawstring bag, and I was immediately drawn to its light, yet incredibly plush, feel. I can’t stand giant, bulky blankets where you just know you’ll overheat in the middle of the night and need to kick your legs out for comfort. This felt like the exact opposite, as the Queen size I got was already neatly folded in its bag and hardly takes up any space if you need to store it. After machine-washing, it was even softer than before and dried beautifully. I tested folding it up again to see if I ran into the impossible-to-store-after-washing situation. Nope! Since it’s more of a slim blanket, it easily tucked right in, making it perfect for smaller linen closets.

I put it on my bed around the middle of summer (read: scorching hot in NYC), and thanks to its lightweight feel, it was perfectly cool, even in the heat. But once fall arrived, it was still perfect to use alone, thanks to its soft, plush properties that kept me nice and warm. It’s clear that the blanket is meant to be incredibly versatile and layered with other bedding as the temps change, much like the clutch cardigan in my closet. As winter approaches, I know it’ll be just the thing to put between my sheets and heavy duvet in case my bedroom gets unexpectedly warm and I need to remove the duvet (because with city radiators, you never quite know what you’re in for!).

Function aside, the Matelasse also has an allover stitched, stonewashed texture, meant to mimic the look of a quilt. The blanket is available in six eye-catching neutral and muted colors, and I got the “Undyed” hue, which is a pretty cream color that’ll look great with all the other bedding I own. I may get another one in a different color because it looks so gorgeous on my bed on its own, and I can see how color blocking two of them would add to the already chic, cozy look. All in all, it’s really nice to have at least one made-to-last blanket option to turn to that’s stylish, goes with everything, and will seamlessly take you from season to season.
