This distinctive modern interior carries contemporary decor features and a cool dash of panache. Visualized by Artimitro Interiors, this apartment may carry a neutral palette but it has a colorful personality. Modern furniture pieces strike a bold aesthetic, drawing the eye with deep tones and strong silhouettes. Modern wall art is big, bright, and energetic, introducing movement and color. In the open plan living space, a modern dining room light installation makes an eye-catching statement, whilst the kitchen hides behind closed doors. Luxe marble elements pop up throughout the home, adding upmarket appeal to the kitchen and bathrooms. Glass walls open up an extraordinary dressing room design, bedroom storage, and bathroom combos.
A gray tufted sofa and two black tufted ottomans make up a large L-shaped arrangement in the living room. The dual-color combination creates strong visual impact in the lounge area, which is accentuated by a set of black and gray area rugs. An anglepoise floor lamp provides focused illumination at the end of the couch.
The L-shaped sofa arrangement effectively divides the open-plan living space into two halves. However, the two tufted ottomans are easily split apart to reconfigure the layout into a more freeflowing setup.
The two living room rugs make up an abstract design, with the gray, round rug overlapping the edge of the larger black area rug. This configuration perfectly complements the L-shaped sofa arrangement. A unique coffee table and a small accent chair finish off the lounge composition.
The second half of the living space is home to a formal dining area and a modern kitchen design.
A glossy black sofa table helps to define the two living areas. A large art canvas visually anchors the dining spot in place with a riot of color.
A contemporary lighting installation hangs above the modern dining set, dropping loops of illumination over the black marble dining table.
Rich brown dining chairs comfortably seat up to four people around the chic round dining table.
The kitchen has an understated design, with most of its elements concealed behind closed doors. A narrow island marks the boundary of the kitchen area and creates a sleek breakfast bar.
The kitchen concealment doors have a glossy finish, which reflects light from the living room windows.
With the large concealment doors drawn back, the back wall of the kitchen becomes a hive of activity. A prep bench, kitchen sink, and a wall of stainless steel wall units come into use.
The fridge freezer and a large larder unit flank the central kitchen run. A black marble backsplash beautifully complements the marble kitchen island.
The living space stands open to a spacious home entryway. Wood flooring runs through both spaces to achieve a seamless connection.
One entire wall of the hallway is clad in gloss panels, which reflect ambient light. A built-in shelf is backed by a floor-to-ceiling mirror, which creates the illusion of added space.
One whole wall of the hallway is dedicated to storage. A change in flooring creates definition down in front.
The master bedroom is a light and airy space, with a glass wall dressing room and ensuite bathroom combo. The edge-to-edge glazing builds a headboard feature wall. Privacy curtains can be drawn across inside the bathroom when privacy is required.
A muted green platform bed and red wall art introduce a sophisticated color palette. A pair of modern pendant lights fall over the bedside cabinet, creating a sculptural statement.
A contrasting black bedside table stands on the other side of the room, along with a slender floor lamp. A gray rug pulls the mixed assortment of bedroom furniture and lighting together into one neat package.
Wood flooring creates a cohesive run between the bedroom and the dressing room.
Inside the dressing room, a comprehensive closet system offers an array of clothing rails, shelves, and drawers. LED strip lights create a fashion boutique feel.
The wood flooring ends as the space morphs into an ensuite bathroom.
A tinted glass enclosure fades the shower area from view.
Inside the tinted shower enclosure, brass fittings contrast warmly with a gray and white wet wall and a built-in bench.
The freestanding bathtub can’t be seen from the bedroom because it is tucked neatly behind the upholstered headboard.
Marble tiles build natural pattern in the bathroom vanity area.
A backlit mirror highlights the beauty of the stone wall.
The WC neighbors the glass shower chamber, behind a matching smoked glass partition.
The second bedroom design has a relaxing gray and beige palette.
Long pendant lights drop beams of light by the headboard. Glass panels build light-permeable supports for the bedroom workspace.
A gold floor lamp shines reading light over the pillows.
There is no area rug present in this space, which makes the room feel more spacious, airy, and bright.
Greige drapes soften the corner of the room, whilst roller blinds dress the two large windows.
The drapes can be drawn around the perimeter for complete darkness when needed.
In this bold bathroom design, red marble panels make a startling backdrop.
The red-veined marble flames into the shower area, where it is extinguished by a cool, custom-cut mirror.
A wood stool keeps toiletries nearby.
The WC is tucked behind smoked glass bifold doors.
Smoky gray paneling builds a shadowy interior.
An integrated basin gives the vanity a minimalist look.

This dwelling has seen a lot of history unfold in the center of Kyiv since 1909. Following the bombing and fire in 1941, the building underwent a major reconstruction in 1950. This individual apartment redesign began just a month before the pandemic hit in 2020 and was completed in 2022 amidst war. Designed by Oksana Dolgopiatova, the apartment has a view of the National Academic Franco Theater on one side and the statue of Independence Square on the other. Inside, the apartment is a sophisticated sanctuary with striking molded ceilings. Neoclassical motifs add elegance and flair. An open-plan layout and glass walls give the living space light and airy feel.
The living space is a light-filled, open layout. During the reconstruction of the previously bombed apartment, a plethora of reinforcing beams and screeds were discovered. These structural additions determined layout decisions and influenced solutions for ceiling and wall casings.
The facade of this building, and of those that surround it in the historical center of Kyiv, displays embossed friezes and ornamental motifs. These motifs inspired circular-shaped panel molding across the living room ceiling, which is dramatized under black paintwork. Two black coffee tables and a matching couch take the dark accent to the floor.
The plush black sofa is centered in front of a color-matched doorway to achieve a symmetrical balance. A pale second sofa and matching lounge chair counterbalance the dark effect. See more inspiration for a black couch living room.
A light throw breaks up the black sofa upholstery. Coffee table books brighten the black coffee table, along with a vase of colorful foliage.
One wall of the living room is panel molded to achieve an elegant neoclassical aesthetic. Large paintings lean against the wall paneling, illuminated under modern wall sconces.
Herringbone wood flooring and wooden baseboards add warmth to the interior decor palette.

Built-in cupboards hide away a multitude of office supplies and household items.
Abstract artwork brings color and movement to the scheme.
Back out in the main living space, a black oval dining table is paired with rattan chairs to create rich contrast. A large dining room chandelier descends from the ceiling in high-contrast black and white finishes.
Behind the dining area, a black kitchen installation is elevated with luxe gold accents. A smooth white marble backsplash adds pattern and high-end appeal.
Kitchen wall cabinets are highlighted under a lustrous gold finish that wonderfully reflects light from an adjacent window.
A path of white marble lines the edge of the L-shaped kitchen design with a hardwearing, easy-clean surface.
The durable white marble floor treatment is repeated in the home entryway. A bank of made-to-measure wardrobes provides hallway storage. An upholstered bench provides a comfortable place for putting on shoes.
Black-stained wood darkly encases the doorway into the living room, creating a ceremonious entry.
The staircase to the mezzanine bedroom is fitted with a circle motif balustrade. A tower of display shelves offers a pleasant focal point by the base tread.
Perimeter LEDs drop a subtle glow onto attractively panel-molded walls. A small lounge area and workspace tuck against the opposite wall.
The master bedroom is dominated by a heavily paneled headboard wall. Two unique and colorful bedside table lamps compete for attention in front of the statement wall.

Warmth and character exude from this modern apartment interior, which is situated in a new building in the historical center of Kyiv, Ukraine. Designed by Oksana Dolgopiatova, the 84 square meter apartment was renovated for the client’s growing daughter. Since there was no hurry for the completion of the project, time was taken to ensure that the project was completed to the best standard. The interior is constructed with high-quality, environmentally-friendly materials. A light aesthetic helps the apartment to appear larger and airy. Red decor accents and patterned elements prevent the design from falling into the stark minimalist realm, securing a cozy atmosphere.
The clients were used to a higher ceiling than the 30000mm offered in this apartment. Therefore, there was concern regarding the installation of statement ceilings. So, a red living room was established to define the main space only. A black and white accent chair launches a moment of pattern.
Large living room windows combat the saturated red ceiling color. When natural light is decreased, an installation of LED perimeter lights generates a cozy glow. The illumination intensifies the color treatment.
A beige sofa is accessorized with a textural black scatter cushion, which ties in with the monochrome accent chair. A brass side table is teamed with a black counterpart to form a nested arrangement. A cool table lamp adorns the top. See more ideas for unique table lamps.
An elegant archway leads from the entryway to the living room. The same architectural motif was used to fuse two existing balconies with their adjoining rooms. Graceful arches smooth the edges of the awkwardly segmented loggia. A wood trim achieves a chic finish.
A slimline black living room floor lamp provides focused task lighting over one end of the sofa. A brass-colored scatter cushion complements the small side table at the opposite end. Textured artwork makes a surprising yet subtle backdrop.
Opposite the sofa, a unique unit folds into the space in a deep red and natural wood finish.
On top of the unit, a pair of glass vases are filled with floral arrangements to make a colorful focal point.
Behind the living room console unit, there is a wall of frosted glass sliding doors. The doors pull away to give entry into the dining room and kitchen. With the dividing wall dissolved, the three separate areas become one large living space. This layout is great for entertaining family and friends, or simply enjoying a free-flowing space.
Twin dining room pendant lights descend low on the table to build an atmospheric dining experience. A decorative vase and decanters make up a stylish dining table centerpiece.
The kitchen offers a generous amount of storage space in a range of wooden cabinets. A black backsplash and countertop cut darkly through the installation.
From the formal dining spot and kitchen, we look upon an arched entryway into one of the two renovated balcony areas.
The newly connected balcony now extends the main living space. It also serves as much-needed extra wall space in which to install a set of radiators.
In the kitchen diner, ceilings and walls are melded with pale beige plaster. Curved gypsum cornices smooth the transition.
When circumstances in Ukraine made sourcing specific materials difficult, the project was simply paused until the desired supply became available again.
The covered balcony area is also home to a comfortable reading area. A stylish lounge chair and a unique side table sit under natural light from the large windows.
A fluted glass curio cabinet displays a multitude of decorative vases and small sculptures.
Terrazzo tiles color the floor.
A racetrack-shaped rattan entryway bench and a matching black-framed mirror make up a convenient dressing area beside the front door. A modern wall sconce lights the way.
Terrazzo floor tiles lay down a hard-wearing, easy-clean surface to deal with footfall through the door. A black skirting board smartly trims the colorful terrazzo treatment.
The newly installed archways soften the linearity of the original apartment construction. The interior doors of the apartment stand out in natural wood tone, which complements the archway cladding.
The tracks that support the sliding glass doors between living spaces are neatly sunken into the wooden floor treatment.
Built-in wardrobes offer ample storage space in the hallway.
In the bedroom, wood parquet flooring establishes a chic aesthetic. A modern bed design is raised on slender black legs, which leaves much of the floor unobstructed.
The covered balcony area that is now attached to the bedroom makes a perfect home for a vanity table.
An interior window shares light with the bedroom.
Black-painted cornice frames unique textural wallpaper on the ceiling.
A backlight accentuates natural imperfections in the light beige wall plaster.
In the master bedroom, shades of green shape a fresh and rejuvenating atmosphere. Pale green tiles clad the wet zone around the bathtub. A modern bathroom sink introduces a darker hue.
The shower room decor returns to red tones.
Black bathroom fixtures darkly punctuate the scheme.
Patterned tiles provide visual interest.

Floating shower shelves place toiletries close at hand.
Shower hooks hold loofahs to dry underneath the shelves, whilst higher hooks keep towels and robes within reach.
