Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Our home is a 160-year-old Victorian cottage. We’ve lived here nine years. The main reason my husband Jason and I bought it is that it has beautiful original features and a beautiful 190-foot garden.

It has three double bedrooms, which is ideal as our daughter, Laura, who soon will turn 18, lives with us. My husband, Jason, is a construction engineer, and I am a part-time home stylist and Special Education Needs teacher.

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room… it’s really hard to choose, but we both like our cottage style kitchen because we love cooking a lot. Therefore, we always spend lots of time in there. We also have a garden view from our kitchen window, and we love our al fresco dining!

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A new range cooker and more paint samples!

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Eclectic, vintage, and mid-century modern with boho accents.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Always go with you heart! Don’t just follow the trends. For example, if you don’t like dark colors, then it is very unlikely you will feel good in dark, moody rooms. And vice versa: if you don’t like light or bright colors, you wouldn’t like to have those in your house.

Make sure your home fits your lifestyle, so, for example, if you work from home, then always create a little home office somewhere where you won’t be distracted. Don’t underestimate storage as it will help you keep the clutter at bay. Always remember that a tidy space brings much more calmness to your life than a messy and cluttered one.
