I think I’ll just go right ahead and say it: I am a sweaty sleeper. When I’m stressed or anxious during the day, I turn into a sweating machine at night and wake up looking like I just got out of the shower (sorry for the TMI… ). I was starting to wonder how my beloved mattress was holding up to my sweating issue, which, if I’m totally honest, just added more stress to the problem. So, I decided to try out a waterproof mattress protector to halt (or hopefully prevent in the first place) the harm done to my mattress.
In my experience with mattress protectors, I thought I had to accept a less-than-comfortable sleep to keep my mattress safe — not only from my sweat, but also from bacteria, dust mites, and other allergens. Before now, I’d never met a mattress protector that I liked. Most waterproof mattress protectors feel — and sound! — plasticky. They never quite fit the mattress properly, and they’re always bunching or causing friction and sliding around under the sheets.
It was truly a delightful surprise to find that the SIJO Eucalyptus Mattress Protector has none of the classic mattress protector faults! I could immediately tell that it would be better than the zip-all-the-way-around, paper-thin versions I had tried in the past. Even before I put it on my bed, I could feel how high quality it was. It has a padded top, and after one wash, any stiffness the SIJO may have had melted into a soft, silent, and pliable protector that easily (and snuggly) tucks beneath the four corners of my mattress, fitted sheet style. The ironic but absolute best part about this protector? You can’t feel it at all, even beneath thin, percale sheets.
The 100 percent waterproof SIJO is made without chemical coatings (instead they use organic solvents and a technical fabric creation process), so it keeps my bed as hypoallergenic as it does dry. It’s made with sustainable Tencel lyocell and 100 percent recycled polyester, and it’s OEKO-TEX certified — meaning the protector is not only safe and non-toxic to sleep on, it also reduces all kinds of unnecessary waste during the production process to minimize SIJO’s effects on the environment.
For me, the cherry on top is the naturally cooling fabric, so my SIJO doesn’t just combat my sweaty sleeping, it works to prevent the problem before it starts. You don’t have to be a hot, sweaty, or stressed sleeper to love this protector, though. In fact, it’s so incredible, it even won the top spot on our mattress pads and protectors Best List. And it doesn’t get better than that!

Ever since AT’s senior commerce editor Jasmine raved about her Sijo Eucalyptus Duvet Insert, I’ve been super curious about the innovative bedding brand. Their mission to give customers a better, more luxe night’s sleep while using materials that are kind to the Earth grabbed my attention, so when I got a chance to test drive their latest comforter that has temperature regulation technology, I was all too eager.
The Sijo CLIMA comforter is part of the brand’s new CLIMA bedding collection, aka their “first-to-market, most advanced fiber technology for temperature-regulation yet.” Sounds like a lot of fancy and scientific words, right? It’s very easy to get swept up in the packaging of it all, but as someone who tests a lot of bedding, this comforter was of special interest to me because I do go from hot to cold very easily in my NYC apartment (thanks to not being the person in charge when the AC disappears for the season and the heat comes on! Yes, somehow, it can get too stuffy in my bedroom in the depths of winter and the quickest solution is to crack the window). And I was very pleased to find out that this piece of smart bedding was all it claimed to be.
When I received my comforter, it was incredibly soft to the touch, on the slimmer side, and looked like a dreamy cloud draped on my bed. (I tried it with and without a duvet cover and they were both equally great options, aesthetically and results-wise.) But the real magic was found within the scientific technology that worked incredibly well to maintain an optimal body temperature during my REM cycle (they define that as between 82 and 89 degrees Fahrenheit). I can sleep both hot and cold, depending on the time of year, and always find myself with an excess of blankets or not nearly enough, but this worked beautifully on its own. I never woke up due to being too hot or cold, as I’m apt to do, I’m confident I’ll be using it all year long!
More neat details on the material, though: The brand’s proprietary CLIMA fibers have the ability to absorb and disperse excess body heat as temperatures rise and drop, in conjunction with sweat-wicking fabrics (a mix of TENCEL™ lyocell, Mica nylon blend shell, and the CLIMA fiber blend fill). The CLIMA fibers are environmentally sustainable and hypoallergenic via a patented spinning process, plus the lyocell fibers contain plant oil paraffin for a luxe feel. The comforter is also OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certified and Global Recycling Standards (GRS) Certified.
Even better? You can snag one for 25 percent off right now during Sijo’s extension of their Cyber Week sale. Use code HOLIDAY25 for the gift of smart bedding and a better night’s sleep.

As an editor for AT, it’s my job to put tons of sheets, duvets, and mattresses to the test. When I come across a bedding item that’s unbelievably cozy, I’m tempted to shout it from the mountaintops (after all, good bedding is hard to find!). Such was the case when I was offered the opportunity to test Sijo Home‘s new eucalyptus duvet insert. From the moment I unwrapped it from the box, I knew this comforter was something to behold — and I wasn’t wrong!
You may have noticed that eucalyptus bedding has been kind of buzzy lately. Shoppers love that it’s durable, temperature-regulating, and eco-friendly. Sijo is already known for their heavenly eucalyptus sheets and duvet covers, so it only made sense to expand the line with an actual comforter to match. The shell of the duvet insert is made from 100 percent TENCEL™ lyocell fibers, which combine eucalyptus and other wood sources from sustainably managed farms. This eco-friendly fabric is not only extremely breathable, but also incredibly soft to the touch.
I was truly amazed at how dreamy and delicate the fabric felt right out of the package — so much so that putting it through the rigor of my washing machine felt risky. “Will the machine cycle ruin the material?” I thought to myself while deciding whether or not to just drop it off at the dry cleaner. To my delight, the duvet insert went through the washing and drying cycles flawlessly, coming out just as soft as when it went in.
Now I’ll admit, I am quite picky when it comes to comforters. I love to sleep snug and cozy but hate waking up sweltering hot in the middle of the night (it’s a top five worst feeling, actually). So as soft and plush as this comforter was, I was really looking to see if it would check the breathability boxes as well. Sijo did not fumble in that department. True to the stellar reputation they’ve upheld for their eucalyptus sheets, this duvet insert was immaculately airy. Throughout the night, I felt enveloped in cloud-like comfort while managing to never break a sweat. The soft eucalyptus material felt soothing against my skin, and the fibers seemed to let just enough air circulate as I rested. I’m in awe!
I know a comforter has done its job when getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. I seriously have a hard time parting with this duvet each morning, because it’s just that darn cozy. Since I’m so thoroughly impressed with this duvet, I can definitely see myself taking the plunge on one of the brand’s duvet covers. They come in eight stylish colors (the blush pink is calling my name!) and are made from the same cooling lyocell fabric.
If you’re in the market for some cooler bedding but don’t want to spend big, Sijo is currently slashing 20 percent off their newly launched duvet insert and all their other bedding items in the spirit of Prime Day. Simply use SIJOPRIME at checkout and watch the prices fall!
