Peek Inside This Earth-Toned Adobe-Style Oasis for Sale in New Mexico

Peek Inside This Earth-Toned Adobe-Style Oasis for Sale in New Mexico

Maybe it’s just wishful thinking after months of wearing wool sweaters to survive winter in New England, but looking at this adobe home for sale in Las Cruces, I swear I feel warmer. Something about the sandy walls, wooden ceiling beams, and the pops of orange and red throughout the home just acts like a dose of sunshine.

The residence itself is a sizable 3,669 square feet and feels almost like a courtyard you can live in, thanks to antique light fixtures made of iron and glass, reddish-brown Saltillo tile floors, plenty of French doors, and lots of Pella wood windows that fill the home with natural light. Built-in bookshelves, tree trunk ceiling beams, and a trio of fireplaces throughout the home help keep it as cozy by night as it is cool and breezy by day.

The bathrooms deserve a moment of appreciation, too: Covered in ceramic Talavera tiles, they both feature in-shower windows or skylights, meaning you can soak in some Vitamin D even as you take your morning shower.

And that’s not even all this Southwestern estate has to offer. The 2.76 acres also contain an in-ground pool (ooh), above ground hot tub (aah), a workshop, spacious patio, grounds growing more than 100 pecan trees, and a pool house for the guests the fortunate future owners of this home will surely be hosting.

This Painted Stucco Haven Is for Sale in the Southern California Desert

This Painted Stucco Haven Is for Sale in the Southern California Desert

On top of the small matter of a down payment, one logistic that keeps me from constantly emailing every listing agent about every beautiful home I see is: moving furniture. It’s an undeniable hassle, which is why this sweet stucco abode outside Joshua Tree — which comes fully furnished, down to the art and decor — is starting to look pretty tempting.

Situated on five sandy acres in Southern California, this home stands out from its earth-toned surroundings thanks to the bright orange-and-blue mural that covers the facade, painted by artist Bunnie Reiss.

Inside, polished concrete floors keep things cool, and warm mahogany doors soak up the natural sunlight that fills the home. A complete renovation brought new appliances to the kitchen, and the open concept means you can mix up a meal at the island while looking through the living room window at the pergola-covered patio outside.

Both bedrooms are lovely (as is the bathroom, with a shower bedecked in Spanish tiles), but I’m calling dibs on the primary bedroom, which has direct access to the second covered patio — perfect for sipping a sunrise coffee or sunset aperitif.

Take a Gander at This Disco-Chic Gem for Sale in Georgia

Take a Gander at This Disco-Chic Gem for Sale in Georgia

Judging by the low-profile, wooden-sided exterior of this single-story home, you wouldn’t expect anything out of the ordinary going on inside — which makes the reveal of clicking through the photos all the more glorious. Smoked mirror tiles line the ceiling of the foyer, which leads into a living room that stopped me in my tracks: Wall-to-wall plush teal carpeting and curved built-in couches are anchored around a freestanding gas fireplace with a cylindrical mirrored chimney hovering above, making it look like a giant disco centerpiece.

What’s more? On the other side of the entryway, another lounge features a big, circular conversation pit, where I’m currently picturing myself reclining with a tequila sunrise in my best pair of bell bottoms.

Across the pass-through window, the kitchen maintains a perfectly ’70s vibe with a produce-patterned tile backsplash, lots of wooden cabinets, and even a Sub-Zero fridge cleverly disguised with wood paneling.

The bedrooms are equally fun to look at, with one sporting not one but two entire walls of mirror tiles, a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, and a bed with a round built-in ruched canopy and a petite chandelier dangling from the center. Another room showcases a carpet-encompassed bed with a mirrored overhanging arching over the mattress like a disco ball wave.

On top of all the retro rewards, the home offers plenty of practical features, too, including a two-car garage, a spacious, light-filled basement, and a wide, grassy yard.

This Bookish Brooklyn Co-op for Sale Is a Vintage Lover’s Dream Come True

This Bookish Brooklyn Co-op for Sale Is a Vintage Lover’s Dream Come True

My idea of a perfect day involves a really good book, a cozy ambiance, and a big mug of tea. So this Flatbush two-bedroom that feels like the chance to live inside of a library? It’s brimming with perfect day potential, in my book.

While the entryway can be an afterthought in some spaces, that’s not the case here. The long hallway running from the front door into the kitchen and living room is lined with parquet floors that are original to the 1930s home, as well as recently installed built-in shelves. It’s wide enough to decorate with a comfy chaise or even a library ladder (the dream!) to reach those high-up reads.

Keeping with the bookish look, forest green paint envelopes the eat-in kitchen all the way from its walls to its open cabinets — but new quartz countertops, white tiled floors, and stainless appliances break up the dark-hued drama.

The neighboring living room takes on a brighter aesthetic with pure white walls and glass-paneled pocket doors leading into one of the two bedrooms. Off the other bedroom (which comes with a walk-in closet), the bathroom keeps things light, too: Gut renovated just last year, it features black-and-white honeycomb tiled floors, a deep bathtub, and a marble vanity countertop. All throughout the unit, rounded doorways and a careful mixture of vintage and designer fixtures strike just the right balance between old and new, making it feel cozy and sophisticated all at once.
