Le Creuset launched its signature Flame color in 1925. Now, if you check out the site, you’ll find Flame — and a veritable rainbow of cookware. There are two additional red-ish-oranges, at least five blues, a yellow … I’ll stop, because you know how rainbows work. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from working with the brand for the last 15 years, it’s that there’s always room for more colors!

And that’s what brings me here today: a new color! The brand just teamed up with the folks at Williams Sonoma to launch Olive. The brand already had the recently-ish-launched Artichaut and Sea Salt, but nothing like this. It’s a bright, briny green with that subtle ombré fade that Le Creuset has perfected. Here, let me show you.

Look at that Olive green! I got the scoop and was told that the team was inspired by European olive groves when they came up with the new color. Makes sense. Just looking at this pot makes me want to grab one and whip up this one-pot pasta puttanesca. Can’t you taste the olives?

I love the Olive green on its own and how well it complements most of the brand’s other colors. Olive with Oyster? Duh. Olive with Azure? Yes, please! Olive with Nectar? Absolutely! My point: You can mix and match this color with the pieces you may already have at home. Speaking of pieces, the Olive will be available in 10 classic Le Creuset pieces, including four Dutch oven sizes, Kitchn’s favorite braiser, and the skinny grill our readers love.

The 10 Le Creuset Pieces Available in Olive

Like I said, this new color officially launched today. And you can shop it online through Williams Sonoma.

Casserole dishes often go under-appreciated, when in fact they actually do so much more than cook easy cheesy dinners and sides. They’re the ultimate cookware for making one-pot dinners, easily transporting food, and baking delicious desserts. Our friends at Kitchn have a handful of editor-favorite casserole dishes, but there’s one that consistently comes out on top: the Le Creuset Casserole Dish. It was picked as number one in their annual Kitchn Essentials: Tools Edition this year for its gorgeous look, even heating, and easy-to-clean smooth surface.

The most notable feature of these new Le Creuset baking dishes is the handles. Unlike the brand’s usual tab-style handles, these dishes have looped handles that make gripping the dish with oven mitts much easier. Additionally, the covered casserole dishes now feature a stainless steel knob that will provide a more secure grip when you have bulky oven mitts on.

Of course, these pieces include the same high-performance qualities that Le Creuset is known for. When put to the test, the rectangular casserole dish works beautifully, resulting in perfectly browned mac and cheese and restaurant-quality meatballs. It also cleans up super easily thanks to its smooth interior, and it can keep food piping hot for a whopping three hours with the lid on.

If you’re already dreaming of all the potluck sides, no-fuss dinners, and easy cobblers you can make with these baking dishes, then now is the best time to scoop one up. The Williams Sonoma line is available in three chic colorways: French Grey, Matte White, and Cerise, all of which are sure to be a hit at your next picnic or dinner party.

Buy: Le Creuset Stoneware Rectangular Covered Baker, 4-Qt., $130; Le Creuset Stoneware Square Covered Baker, 3-Qt., $110

Le Creuset Just Launched a Bread Oven — and You’re Gonna Want to Get Back into Baking Sourdough

Le Creuset Just Launched a Bread Oven — and You’re Gonna Want to Get Back into Baking Sourdough

Want to hear a secret? I am terrible at keeping secrets. And I have been holding onto a big one for 10 days now. See, earlier this month, I attended The Inspired Home Show. It’s the biggest kitchen gadget trade show in America and I saw lots of awesome new gear. Which brings me to my secret: At the show, I was introduced to this brand-new bread oven from Le Creuset. I wasn’t allowed to say anything about it because execs wanted to keep a tight lid on it (pun intended) until it officially became available for purchase. It launched today, though, so I’m finally allowed to shout about it from the rooftops. Ready? Here goes.

If you’ve ever baked bread in a Dutch oven (I’m guessing that’s most of you who had time on your hands in 2020), you’ll love the Le Creuset bread oven. It’s got a dome shape, which is better optimized for bread baking. The enameled cast iron lid traps and circulates steam to create a crispy crust and tender crumb. And the interior has a matte black satin enamel, which allows for easy cleaning and won’t show oil stains or marks.

The low-profile base is, in my opinion, even better than the domed lid. Its shallow walls make it easy to remove finished loaves of bread and the raised ridges promote even browning. (The Le Creuset logo is even printed backward on the base so that the bottom of your bread comes out with the branding!) The base can also be used as a grill pan, too. It’s 9.5 inches in diameter, making it great for things like burgers, tofu, veggies, and more. And, thanks to the wide, loopy handles, the whole thing is easy to carry.

As a fun little bonus, I can totally see myself loading this piece up with a bunch of cookies or baked goods for a dramatic reveal after a dinner party. Also, the bread oven is dishwasher-safe, compatible with all cooktops, and oven-safe up to 500°F.

If you’re still making delicate sauces in a lightweight, straight-sided pan, now is a good time to upgrade to a saucier. Made from Le Creuset’s super heat-retaining cast iron, the saucier holds low and medium temperatures steady so your recipes can cook and thicken without scorching. The curved inner edge lets you stir and scrape up every last bit of your recipe, so you won’t be left with lumpy results, whether you’re making bechamel or caramel.
