The rectilinear form has dominated our modern homes for a long stretch but it’s curvilinear forms that more closely emulate our natural environment. Curvaceous lines smooth our surroundings and soothe our souls just like Mother Nature intended, so how can we incorporate this motif into a modern interior setting? These two contemporary home designs embrace and meld curves into highly polished settings, where crisp minimalist design rules. Clean linearity is ever present but the softness of rounded furniture silhouettes and racetrack-shaped decor elements bring comforting balance to each scheme. Here, we’ll explore inspiration for the rounded form in luxury living rooms, peaceful bedrooms and chic modern bathrooms.
A round ottoman offsets the square sections of a modern sofa, where blush pink accents add a dash of subtly sweet colour.
A natural rug matches the texture of the sectional sofa, and sets down a plain base for the sofa’s patterned upholstery.
The couch arrangement is set into a double sided design that allows the homeowner to choose a spot looking into the living space or out of the window to the view.
The modular sofa can be rearranged to suit the occasion, a new room rearrangement, or the homeowners whim. Square ottoman sections can be utilised as side seating or moved around to the front to create comfortable chaise lounges.
A tall indoor plant adds height by the low slung sofa arrangement, as well as a fresh burst of rich emerald green.
A stone hearth heavily underlines the wall mounted TV set, creating some much needed depth against the flat grey paintwork.
Plush grey drapes frame the large windows of the living room, taking inspiration from the darker shade in the sofa pattern.
The kitchen design features a sleek island with a dining table extension. A deep stone countertop clearly sets the prep area aside from the eating zone.
An induction hob with integrated extractor fan is set into the stone worktop of the kitchen island. A modern fruit bowl provides simple decoration.
Three unique dining room pendant lights make a spectacular display above the central dining island, hanging great droplets of soft illumination along its length. An L-shaped kitchen installation occupies a nook at the end of the island, where a dark grey stone backsplash ties in with the island’s surface.
The dining chairs are the Moustache Bold chair, which is made from tubular metal parts and comfortable polyurethane foam.
The unusual chairs bring a warm pop of orange to the dining room to uplift the dominant grey colourway.
Open shelving makes an attractive display of crockery and glassware in the L-shaped kitchen.
The open kitchen shelving is also well positioned to easily receive clean dishes from the adjacent sink.
In the master, a cluster of rounded bedroom pendant lights form a sculptural display over a linear bedside unit.
A punchy orange bedside table brings a round silhouette to the other side of the upholstered bed.
A full length mirror is perfectly aligned with the top of the door frame to achieve a streamlined aesthetic.
The bedroom rug melds gently with the floor tone to create a peaceful, natural palette.
Built-in wardrobes smoothly slot into an alcove at the foot of the bed.
The bathroom doubles as a laundry room.
A racetrack shaped bathroom mirror brings curves to the bathroom to counteract a strictly linear bathroom vanity unit.
Mood lighting glows from behind the wall mirror and from perimeter lighting above the bathtub.
The soft lighting creates atmospheric shadows around the room.

Visualised by Ivan Petechel and Kut Victor, our second curve-kissed home design is a bright and welcoming space. A curved sofa pulls around a rounded rectangle coffee table in the lounge, whilst a racetrack dining table curvaceously furnishes the space behind.
The living room dining room combo is decorated with focus on the TV wall, where dark wood panelling pulls attention within the white room scheme.
The curvaceous dining chairs are the Neva chair by Marija Ružić Vukmanić & Ruđer Novak-Mikulić for Artisan.
We switch back to linearity in the kitchen area, where a sharp-edged kitchen island is decorated with fashionable wood slatted panels.
A bespoke upholstered headboard design is padded into a curved appearance in the master bedroom, whilst an end of bed bench sharpens the look at the other end.
Unique bedroom pendant lights echo the outline of the rounded bedside tables. Spherical glass vases add elegant decoration.
Dark wood grain wardrobes flank the wood slatted bedroom TV wall, creating one solid focal wall.
A combination of white marble and white render encase the calming bathroom. A freestanding bathtub casts curves into the layout. A contrasting rustic wooden stool holds soap dispensers nearby.
A sliver of tinted glass marks the walk-in shower area.

Pale tonal decor creates a wonderfully airy and balanced home interior that evokes a sense of peace and harmony. These two calming tonal interiors employ wood accents to add warmth and texture to the pale palette, and small bursts of black to anchor the light scheme. This is a colour palette that translates seamlessly into every room and area of the home, from relaxing living rooms and clean kitchen designs to calming bedrooms, stylish home workspaces and modern bathrooms. To prevent the mellow from becoming monotonous, these inspiring home designs demonstrate how to include unexpected elements of contemporary design and individualistic layout to break the repetition with eye-catching character.
In Kyiv, this modern home interior features a light tonal palette of grey and fresh white paintwork. On the modern sofa, a single tan accent pillow ties in with areas of warm wood tone around the room.
Walls are void of artwork in the minimalistic living space, but a pair of chic plant stands add in decoration and texture. A pale grey area rug softens the wood laminate flooring.
Oak effect units provide coordinating storage solutions throughout the home. A sliding door opens up the side of the lounge to adjoin it with the neighbouring kitchen and dining space.
A couple of lounge chairs, a stylish modern floor lamp and a small side table make up a comfortable reading nook by the window. An elevated floor creates clear separation from the adjacent dining area.
Surface mounted spotlights and track lights distribute even illumination throughout the home.
A small key shelf makes use of narrow wall space in the entryway, where a reed diffuser emits a welcoming scent.
A simple grey entryway bench and wide, full length wall mirror fashion a dressing spot next to a set of two-tone white and wood closets.
Statement door handles give the entryway units a unique modern look.
As we turn into the kitchen diner from the home entryway, another wall of storage cabinets incorporate a built-in bookshelf as a pause for decor. Black backing material gives the recess extra depth and contrast within the white and wood surround.
As we enter the hallway toward the bedroom, a floating shelf is subtly accentuated by a colour-blocked paint effect.
Inside the master bedroom, wall lights lead surface mounted electrical wires into an industrial effect display above the headboard.
The channel tufted upholstered bed lays down a plush grey accent in the predominantly white bedroom decor scheme.
A home office cube has been fashioned at one end of the bedroom, hemmed in with pillars of storage.
Wooden closets surround the desk space.
A white office chair complements the clean white floating desk. Hanging plants grow a soft screen between the work desk and the sleep area.
A floor vase and dried pampas grass make a tall decorative display by the window, where sheer white voiles filter the sunlight.
Moving on into the bathroom, we find a heavily accented decor scheme with a black basin, matching round mirror, toilet, and shower unit.
A column of black tiling climbs the cistern concealment wall, causing the black toilet to become camouflaged against its coordinating backdrop.
Wood effect cabinets build a tower of bathroom storage by the vanity. A black framed shower screen draws a defined outline around the shower area.
As we enter the open layout of our second featured home interior, we’re met with a calming white and wood living room scheme. An entire wall of white kitchen cabinets fall quietly into the background. A kitchen island floats freely in the arrangement, where it defines the edge of the dining area. A modern sofa marks out the lounge.
Bifold doors draw close to separate the wide open living space when desired.
The minimalist kitchen island offers a slight variation in tone from the white kitchen run. A natural wood dining set counteracts the coolness of the kitchen materials.
Perimeter lights illuminate crisp white closets that line the walls of the hallway, creating a runway toward a majestic recreation of the Venus de Milo.
Drawer units build a plinth beneath the sculpture–a design that repeats in the window area of the bedroom.
A pocket door neatly closes off the bedroom.
A wooden bedstead stands out warmly against the pure white bedroom decor. The bed is positioned centrally, which creates a natural walkway all the way around that leads into the dressing area. A block of white closets divides the dressing area from the ensuite bathroom.
Bedside units are built into the headboard to keep the look streamlined. Slimline floor lamps save space on the narrow shelves.
The back of the headboard works double duty as a desk. A small upstand hides the workspace clutter from the rest of the bedroom to maintain a tranquil atmosphere.
A second pocket door in the bedroom leads back into the hallway and on into the living room. Wide plank wood flooring visually increases the sense of space.

Rounded-edge furniture and curvaceous interior architecture create a comforting, tactile design aesthetic. Rounded furniture makes it possible to fashion layouts with a soft and easy flow, no matter what the size of the room. In compact spaces, rounded edges are the perfect solution for avoiding awkward corners and knocked shins. In a large living space, a curved furniture piece can make a distinct and eye-catching focal point. These smooth individuals work beautifully when teamed with elegant architectural arches, round feature windows and snaking partition walls for a cohesive theme. Alternatively, sharp geometric outlines can make a crisply contrasting option. Check out these two well-rounded home interiors for curve-filled inspiration.
