Fancy making your own rope Christmas wreath?
Once again, Christmas is right around our doorsteps and seemingly the whole world is covered in festive lights. If you have one of those rare free afternoons during this season, the best way to let loose is by having a relaxing crafting session! This way, you won’t get behind in the holiday preparation, but this fun project is guaranteed help you blow off the steam. Get some rope ready (you might have some left over from your last renovation project) and use this tutorial to discover how to create your own DIY rope Christmas wreath!
What you’ll need to make a DIY rope Christmas wreath
- 9 Meters of 10mm Jute Rope
- 1.5m wire
- 1m Jute Burlap
- Clear Tape (or any kind of tape)
- Decorated Garland
- Pinecones (optional)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
How to make your rope Christmas wreath
The first thing you will have to do is get your rope ready and measured out. Fold each piece of rope in two and secure them to your work surface using tape. You should have 3 sections of 2 strands of rope. Start braiding the rope and continue until you reach the end.
Once the rope is braided, use a hot glue gun to secure the ends.
Take your wire and use it to form a circle. You can make it double in order to make it sturdier.
Turn your rope to it’s back and use a glue gun to attach it to the wire circle. Now the wreath is ready and it’s time to decorate it. For this craft project we used pieces of a cut-up garland, but feel free to get creative with the decorations!
Make sure to glue the longer pieces first, then the shorter pieces on top of these, so the decorations look neat. Keep adding the decor pieces until you are happy with the results.
For the bow, fold the burlap 3 times and wrap a small piece of wire in the middle. Fluff it up until you are happy that it resembles a bow.
Take the finished bow and glue it to the middle of the wreath. You can conceal the wire by adding a small pine cone on top of it.
If you followed the steps carefully, you should now have your very own rope Christmas wreath – hang it on your door and enjoy the compliments you get on it!
