At home, I have the perfect work setup. My desk has plenty of storage space, all the supplies I could possibly need are within reach, and my swivel chair is soft and plush. Plus, it’s all right next to my bedroom window, so I get plenty of sunlight. Do I ever actually work from there, though? Absolutely not. Instead, I spend my 9-to-5 writing from my bed, where I can stretch out in any position I want.

Comfort, or a lack thereof, is the main reason why I refuse to hunker down at my little makeshift office. Specifically, I cannot find a good placement for my legs. Keeping them crossed at the knees hurts my back after a while, whereas the pretzel position eventually makes my joints feel stiff. And if I want to stretch my limbs, my desk’s bottom shelves serve as an inconvenient roadblock. Recently, I was thinking back to how I used to have a small stool at my previous home and how nice something similar would be now. It should come as no surprise that I found an even better one on Amazon.
The adjustable under-desk footrest by HUANUO is the product you need if you also feel uncomfortable while working from a desk. It’s essentially a compact stool that you can easily fit under the table, but it has some special key features. As its name states, this footrest is adjustable, meaning you can tilt its surface at any angle. Whether you want your feet to be slightly elevated toward your body or at a downward slope, all you have to do is slant it to your liking. The footrest’s height is also adjustable.
What’s more, its rectangular platform sports a bumpy texture to prevent your feet from sliding off. Personally, I subconsciously try to prop my feet up on my desk’s lower shelves while typing, but I’m unable to find relief because said shelves are fully stacked with books and binders. A product like this is nothing short of tempting. And if you’re petite, the footrest is a must-have. “Didn’t realize how much my legs hanging all day contributed to my knee pain and leg exhaustion,” one reviewer shared. “This was a perfect solution at a very nominal cost.”
Even if you’re back to working on-site, nothing’s stopping you from bringing the footrest along. It weighs under 5 lbs., so you can easily transport it and never feel discomfort at a desk again. Your body will thank you in the long run. Grab your own footrest now from Amazon, and make sure to hit the “apply 5 percent coupon” button for a discount!

Home offices are now a staple part of the average household, whether that’s for putting in extra hours outside the office or for building your own empire. We expect a lot from our home workspaces, not only because they are a place where we sink many precious hours, but because they must achieve a seamless existence with our beloved home life. This selection of 40 home offices not only deliver functionality but serve with style. From spacious and luxurious home offices that look fit for a mogul, to compact and cosy workspaces for fresh-faced entrepreneurs, these designs offer every inch of inspiration. We’ll look at boho workspaces, Scandi style studies, simply sophisticated office spaces, and much more.
Step into my creative space. A centrally placed desk projects an invitation for collaboration. Set chairs out along the opposite side of your desk to make room for guests, idea-sharing, and partnership.
Be inspired by nature. An independent home office space or artist studio can leave an individual cut off from the world. Reconnect with the outdoors with an attached courtyard, vertical garden wall, or even a realistic botanical mural.
Calm and serene. White decor lays a peaceful foundation for a busy working day, but can sometimes fall a little flat. Add interest and high-end styling with a chic desk design and a marble feature wall.
It’s all in the stucco. Add interest to a tiny home office by creating interesting “architectural” details within the wall stucco. An awkward alcove can become a bank of uniform display nooks, an uninspired doorway can become an elegant archway.
Hidden storage. Bespoke cabinets mean that office paraphernalia can be concealed from sight without cluttering the room with office furniture. Install the cabinets in an end-to-end arrangement that wraps the doorframe to go fully incognito.
Modern and minimal. White cabinets on a white background produce a clean and minimalistic aesthetic. Warm through with a natural wood worktop and matching wooden flooring.
Dark, dramatic and oh-so-sophisticated, this powerful home office design really means business.
Large and in charge. These three desk chairs have a similar brown leather aesthetic, but it’s clear to all which one is in command.
Wallpaper and wealth. A luxe wallcovering applied behind wall shelves that are filled with sculpture and literature speaks of money and culture.
Alternatively, you could hang a huge weapons display to instil respect or a tinge of fear into all who enter your domain!
Back to the drawing board. Consider every aspect of your daily working needs before embarking upon a desk purchase. Would a tilting worktop, open shelving, filing drawers or media storage make your tasks run more smoothly? Make a wish list before browsing.
Every inch an office. This inspirational home workspace has been fashioned to serve with every inch–right from the staircase balustrade.
Encased and cosy. A narrow courtyard filters natural light into this small home office design, whilst fully wood-clad walls and matching wooden furniture build a cosy cocoon.
Use vertical space in a small office room. Upper cabinets will be your best friend in keeping clutter at bay.
Simply Scandi. White base decor, black accents, simple lines and a plethora of plants fashion a cool Scandinavian home office aesthetic.
Accessorise with colour. From colour-changing LED desk lights and eye-catching keyboards to art prints and sculpture, a workday doesn’t have to be dull.
Enjoy a glow whilst you’re on the go. Hang string lights around the perimeter of your workspace to ignite magical vibes.
Tiny spaces can make big statements. Think unique desks, statement lamps, and accent chairs.
Big places, big ideas. A large and spacious home office makes room for luxurious extra touches like long modern fireplaces, impressive chandeliers, exquisite wall panelling, and oversized desks.
This luxurious home office design employs golden accents and marble elements to communicate high-end elegance.
Attic office space can feel closed in but a skylight will open the area right up.
No room in the house? Garden offices are becoming more and more popular.

Side-by-side or face-to-face, double workspaces are a great space-saving solution for couples who both need to work from home.
Another double-sided desk solution.
Chase away dull days by adding your own sunshine with a blast of yellow decor.

You’ll never feel hemmed in with a view like this.
Floating desks and clear floors. Wall-mounted desks keep floor space clear for a minimalist solution.
Colour and inspiration. Creative minds blossom around the creativity of others; surround yourself with art and literature.
Nurture a Japanese aesthetic and a zen mindset. This unique desk design features a planter that makes a home for a majestic bonsai tree. A rice paper pendant light will softly diffuse overhead illumination, and a palmistry sculpture adds a mystical touch.
Keep it light. Open plan home office areas can appear bulky in the landscape of your home. Opt for a glass desk and gently illuminated shelving to lighten the look.
Dual aspect windows? Follow the light and panorama with a built-in L-shaped desk design.
No nonsense. A rockface feature wall and heavy matt black elements build a masterful air.
Business growth buddies. Stimulate a growth mindset by surrounding yourself with nature’s own success stories in a flourishing indoor garden.
Just starting out? Raw brickwork, exposed ducting, and surface mounted electrical wires aren’t the result of a starter budget, they’re an uber fashionable industrial home office don’t you know. Select warming wood elements and matt black accents to complement the vibe.
Draw down high ceilings with black paintwork to balance scale and build drama.
Bring the outside in with a glass wall and ceiling combo. This light-filled home office features a home library that’s custom built into the pitch of the roof to utilise the full height of the room.
This workspace is fashioned as a floating cube within the home library to give it its own identity.

Punchy, colourful accents send a current of youthful fun throughout this modern home interior. Visualised by One More Buro, this 186 square metre private apartment was designed for a young couple and their pet cat. The spacious home features four large panoramic windows that flood the open living space with light. A bright orange home office area forms a prominent feature within the living space, which allows the homeowners to spend time together even when involved in different tasks. A second, private home office space is combined with the guest bedroom for times of deeper concentration, and a home gym offers the owners a space in which to stretch their muscles and decompress.
The client’s principal requirement was that a workspace be included within the open plan living space, so that he wouldn’t be cut off from his home life. The workspace had to be a bespoke unit that could accommodate all of the equipment needed. In answer, the home office area became an entire wall of cabinets with a prominent orange finish. This colourful piece sets the tone for the rest of the youthful interior.
With punchy accent pieces dominating the decor scheme, areas of peaceful white breathing space take on added importance. A creamy white upholstered sofa is framed by matching drapes and fresh white walls. A black tripod floor lamp adds a moment of dark difference.
A white living room rug lays a light island upon the wooden floor treatment.
Round coffee tables drop pure white and bold green silhouettes into the centre of the lounge space.
The orange home office cabinets inspire an orange frame around the TV wall and an adjoining bookcase. Two white lounge chairs pull up alongside in clear contrast.
A glass block wall shares light from the lounge with the next room.
The generous desk area accommodates two PC screens with room to spare. An ergonomic swivel desk chair moves easily between the screens and the storage units on each side.
A floating shelf is fitted with an LED strip light, which shines brightly along the length of the desktop and keyboard.
The lounge flows straight into a wide kitchen diner, where a unique, rectangle dining table stands on a solid green base.
The dining table is integrated into the kitchen island, where it transforms into a breakfast bar along the outer edge.
Flat-fronted, handle-free white kitchen units blend with white painted walls.
A matt white kitchen tap melds with the matching countertop.
The hallway is a nodal point that branches into all zones of the home. There is even a special second-level route for the cat here, which skims the tops of the door frames.
Orange framework calls attention to a row of built-in coat closets. Mirrored doors visually widen and brighten the windowless space.
A unique entryway bench and a colourful painting make an artistic vignette by the front door.
In the private home office, a multitude of indoor plants complement the green decor scheme.
A sofa bed and a black accent chair make up a small lounge in the home office, which doubles as a guest room.
Mint green cabinetry builds the desk area and office storage.
A stylish white desk chair is teamed with the mint desk. A complementary white area rug defines the lounge.
Since one of the homeowners spends most of his day at his computer, including for relaxation, it was important to provide optional settings for screen time.
The home gym stands open to the hallway to aid airflow.
With no windows present, glass blocks and perimeter LEDs were installed to remedy the lack of natural light in the gym.
Indoor plants in the home office form green silhouettes behind the glass blocks in the gym.
The master bedroom is a serene space with a modern 4 poster bed.
The 4 poster bed is loosely draped in sheer fabric to create a romantic effect. A ribbon of LED light cuts along the top of the headboard wall to add definition.
Modern wall sconces provide focussed reading light over the pillows. A soft grey bed set is matched by plush dove grey curtains.
A Moustache Bold vanity chair pulls up at a makeup table that is tucked just inside of a walk-in wardrobe. Bright orange paintwork echoes the colourway of the home office units in the living room and the closets in the hallway.
At the foot of the 4 poster bed, a simple white TV stand cuts crisply across a smooth grey focal wall. A beautiful arched feature bows over the bedroom doorway toward the ensuite bathroom.
Inside the walk-in wardrobe, an open system of shelving keeps garments tidily arranged.
A large round mirror is on hand for checking out today’s outfit.
In the ensuite master bathroom, the colour palette switches from zesty orange to olive green. Textured green tiles form a 3D statement wall behind the bathtub.
A wall-hung toilet tucks away into an alcove by the shower enclosure. More 3D tiles clad the shower interior.
The guest bathroom decor scheme reverts to the prominent orange colourway, with an orange vanity unit, upper storage cabinet, and orange tile grout.
Even the shower doors and towel heater receive an orange tint.
The vanity unit is accented with a single sheet of orange tinted glass, which washes colour onto the white tiles behind it.

When the pandemic hit, I put everything in my New York City apartment into storage and moved back to Arizona to be with my family. While there, I commandeered a massive desk that my parents already had and set up my first-ever home office. When I returned to NYC two years later, unfortunately that beautiful desk stayed out west. I did, however, have a sleek table tucked away in storage that I couldn’t wait to use again. It’s not exactly the most functional or posture-friendly table to sit at all day, but it’s so darn pretty that I couldn’t part with it — so instead of buying an actual desk, I decided to get creative. I found this genius under-desk keyboard tray, and it quickly and simply transformed my beloved table into a legitimate desk that I can work at all day. It’s so brilliant that I’m telling all my friends about it — and now you! The cherry on top? There’s no drilling or tools required to attach it to a table. Now, that’s my love language.
I’m not going to lie — when I unboxed the VIVO Height Adjustable Under-Desk Keyboard Tray, I was a little overwhelmed with the instructions. But once I digested all the steps, I had the chic WFH desk of my dreams set up in mere minutes. While some assembly is required (you’ll need a screwdriver to put the keyboard tray together), you won’t need any tools to attach it to your table. So how in the world does it stay put? The tray is flanked by two super-sturdy adjustable C-clamps that ensure the tray fits snugly on your table.
The tray holds up to 11 pounds, so it’ll not only house your keyboard but also your mouse and gel wrist pads. It fits a table up to 1.75″ thick and the length from clamp to clamp is 33″, so make sure to measure your table before you add it to your cart. There are also five different height options, so you can customize it to the size of your desk. With three styles to choose from, you can coordinate with your desk color.
Compared to some other keyboard tray options out there, this one racks up the most style points. Yes, the clamps are visible on top of my table, but it could be a lot worse. And at $70, it was certainly much easier on my wallet than buying a brand new desk.
