Sunlit pool terraces beautifully expand the living space of these three fresh modern villas, captured by photographer Danang Seta. Stylish decor schemes present luxury inside, offering tasteful settings for vacation fun. The first of our three featured holiday villas boasts a landscaped pool area with lush lawns. Boho-style quarters lie within, dashed with cosy cushions, jute rugs, and fashionable rattan elements. The second villa design carries a touch of tradition, with classical garden sculptures placed around the pool. A sunken seating area adds a retro twist. Finally, we’ll round off our trio with an unusual industrial-style villa. Concrete decor builds a cool aesthetic, whilst wooden accents construct welcoming warmth.
Villa Lamut is a beautiful two-story holiday home with a sunny swimming pool terrace. The compact pool cuts into a modern landscape design, where lush green lawns and tropical plants add enlivening colour.
At night, the pool terrace becomes a magical oasis of warm light and shimmering water. Uplighters showcase Mother Nature’s sculptural creations and their outstretched foliage.
The terrace floor alternates between neatly trimmed lawns, small decked areas, and winding pathways. The alternating ground surfaces create visual interest and added dimension.
Wide glass doors are spread along the length of the villa. The glazed doors open up a free-flowing connection between the large living room and the outside living spaces.
With the sliding doors pulled back, there is natural ventilation through the villa. Conversation can be held between people indoors and out by the pool.
A couple of outdoor chaise lounge chairs are situated on a small deck beside the swimming pool, beneath a shady garden parasol. After sunset, the chaise lounge chairs become a sweet spot for conversation under the stars.
Tall palm trees shoot up around the borders of the landscaped gardens. Their tall trunks break up the solid appearance of the high boundary wall.
Inside the living room, a large jute rug creates a textural island for a comfortable sitting area. A cream couch pulls around the edges of the area rug in an L-shaped formation.
A curvaceous lounge chair rounds out the living room furniture arrangement.
In the centre of the sitting area, a unique glass top coffee table makes an eye-catching focal point. A small wooden media unit neatly displays the TV.
An assortment of boho scatter cushions playfully accessorise the pale living room decor palette. Blush pink accents add subtle visual warmth.
A decorative gold mirror adorns one blank white wall. Indoor plants add naturally beautiful decoration, colour, and texture to the space.
Behind the sofa, a unique dining room set seats up to eight people.
The villa also has a separate snug, which makes a cosy space for watching movies.
A light master bedroom is flavoured with pretty boho accent pieces. A round rug lays a tonal jute pattern on the floor. A tasselled bedcover expresses a relaxed aesthetic.
Inside the first bathroom, an open shower space design is filled with sunlight from a large floor-to-ceiling window.
A second shower room receives sunlight through a well-positioned skylight.
Our second luxury holiday home is Green Villa, located 650 yards from Jimbaran Beach. Here, the outdoor area is almost consumed by an inviting blue swimming pool design. A narrow terrace borders the edge. Classical garden statues reflect upon the surface of the water.
At the end of the long swimming pool design, we discover a compact garden area that’s home to small trees and flowering plants.
A sunken seating area brings the homeowner and their guests down to the water level of the pool, making conversation easier between the two recreational areas.
In the centre of the conversation pit, a small rattan coffee table is ideally situated to receive drinks and snacks.
The villa architecture wraps the swimming pool in a U-shaped embrace. At night, the villa’s interior lights flood the outdoor area with bright illumination. The swimming pool almost feels like a part of the interior, making it inviting during every hour of the day and night.
An uplifting blue accent colour threads throughout the villa, from blue swimming pool tiles and matching sun loungers to a blue dining room and coordinating kitchen cabinets. In the combined kitchen diner space, wireframe dining room pendant lights drop in black anchors.
Striking wall decor draws the eye across to a casual lounge area. Blue scatter cushions colour a grey couch.
In the master suite, a bespoke vanity table stretches across the full length of the room. An end of bed bench conceals extra storage space.
Twin wardrobes flank the door to an ensuite bathroom.
On the second floor, wide balconies overlook the pool terrace. A roof terrace crowns the property.
A mezzanine landing is structured above the sunken seating area, creating an airy double-height void.
Wicker chairs furnish a resting spot out on the bedroom balcony. Glass balustrades leave the view unobstructed.
A convenient wooden bar area is created above the glass balustrades. Wicker bar stools pull up to the bar and the view.
Villa Niscala carries a cool industrial aesthetic. Concrete volumes dominate a tranquil poolside sitting area.
Green borders grow a veil of privacy around the swimming pool.
Rich wooden accents warm the cool grey aesthetic.
Behind the lounge, a formal dining area is arranged alongside the kitchen.
Black dining chairs seat six around a stark black table.
Concrete cabinets construct the kitchen.
White wall render provides a more peaceful look in the master bedroom. Mini bedroom pendant lights emit a soft and cosy glow.

Located in an enviable position in Sotogrande Bajo, Villa The Hill is a luxury home with dazzling views of the coastline. This is one of the most impressive residences in the Sotogrande development, which is home to some of the most lavish properties in Spain. Created by Ark Architects, this unique villa boasts crisp contemporary architecture. Despite its contemporary design, the villa conveys a classic elegance that oozes sophistication and class. State-of-the-art technology adapts the house to the cutting-edge lifestyle of the 21st century, whilst stylish interiors offer the deepest comfort in design. Outside, lush green landscaping rushes up to the stone walls in shrub and tree-filled beds.
With clean sandy white beaches, abundant forests, horse-filled fields, and glorious views of the sea, Sotogrande is a slice of heaven. It is one of the most upmarket residential resorts in the whole of Europe and is renowned throughout the world. Sotogrande is divided into three distinct areas of luxury villas, with Sotogrande Bajo being located near the coastline.
Villa The Hill is a substantial property that gains privacy on a huge independent plot of land. Surrounded by areas of dense forest, the home feels blissfully secluded and wonderfully peaceful. Faced out to the horizon, the home soaks in panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
As we step inside the villa, an impressive double height living room unfolds. Double-banked windows fill the ground floor and an overhanging mezzanine with natural light. A huge sectional sofa draws a solid perimeter around the lounge area. A custom-made area rug completes the zoning.
Two sofa tables display a collection of coffee table books and ornaments. Small side tables are placed intermittently between the sections of the sofa to catch drinks and sundries.
A massive living room chandelier of three parts descends upon the room. The commanding light fixture creates an air of grandeur and a mesmerizing moment of modern design. A pair of coffee tables punctuate the center of the room.
Two ottomans and a small side table make up a relaxed sitting area next to a tranquil modern courtyard design. Smooth, stone-clad pillars surround the square courtyard, which features a majestic gnarled olive tree growing at its core.
The old olive tree is planted beneath a skylight where it may flourish.
A blanket of pure white pebbles covers the raised tree roots and the rest of the courtyard. Rugged boulders are placed around and about to add natural interest.
Moving on into the luxurious kitchen, we meet a bold, gray stone dining island. The kitchen island is a deep volume with storage drawers banked inside. Three modern kitchen bar stools seat three at the black marble countertop.
The stove and sink are installed on the large kitchen island so that the chef may chat more easily with guests sitting at the bar. A second kitchen sink is helpfully situated along the back wall of the kitchen where tea and other beverages are prepared. Open kitchen shelves display an array of ceramics and glassware.
The property boasts a number of swimming pools. This large swimming pool design is located indoors for when the weather isn’t favorable. A sitting area is arranged under an indoor pergola beside the pool. Modern chaise lounges make up a restful spot for sociable conversation or solitary contemplation.
LED strips are installed above the pergola roofline, inside recessed shelves, and around the perimeter of the pool room. The low glow provides soft and atmospheric illumination that suits any time of day.
Bathrooms are luxurious and spa-like. Veined stone cladding meets with rich wood tone and smooth travertine to conjure a luxe look that is stylish yet elegantly timeless. In this bathroom, a fitted bathtub is set up against a floor-to-ceiling window to make the most of the fabulous coastal vista.
The contemporary family home rests neatly in its surroundings. Sotogrande has a very low building density, which allows Mother Nature to dominate.
Between the villa and the coast, impossibly tall palm trees serenade the sky, their silhouettes gently brushing the blue horizon. Clear glass balustrades are erected around the perimeter of the outdoor swimming pool so that the amazing views remain entirely unobstructed. A stone staircase leads down from the outer pool terrace to the tiered gardens below, which are landscaped for privacy.
Up on the paved terrace, an open skyscape reigns. Sections of lush green lawn add color and life to the flat expanse, where an infinity pool appears to plunge over the edge. Stepping stones make a clear path from the water’s edge into the home.
A sweeping driveway travels from the lower road up to the grand entryway of the home. The block-paved approach is wide enough for two vehicles to pass easily, and the driveway wide enough for several vehicles to park.
A perforated overhang causes light play upon the paved driveway, and lightly shades the interior of the home from the beating sun. Curved borders bring elements of the unblemished forest right up to the front door of the home.
Among its other sophisticated amenities, Villa The Hill also includes a home gym where the homeowners and their guests can work out in air-conditioned comfort. As a quiet forest area near the coast, this is also an incredible destination for nature walks and horseback excursions, plus watersports at the beach.

A sense of serenity washes over us as we tiptoe through this set of luxurious Chinese-style villa interiors, each open and spacious and decorated in calming laconic palettes and delicate detail. Visualised by ZHBB Vision, these spaces reminisce about the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan, the picturesque lands that lie south of the Yangtze River’s lower reaches. These peaceful riverside memories inspire water-filled courtyards, where reflection pools surround majestic trees, and colourful koi fish swim. Light-filled living rooms and expansive dining rooms provide uplifting places in which large groups of friends and extended family can gather and socialise into the evening. Traditional tea rooms respect long-standing ceremony.
The light-filled living room features an entire wall of glass that looks out into a peaceful courtyard design and on into a separate wing of the villa that holds the parking garage.
To the right of the open plan living room, a large and impressive spiral staircase design twists in contrasting black and white finishes.
Light cream sofas and counterbalancing black black accent chairs make a visually interesting combination.
Recessed track lights cross the ceiling to distribute even illumination throughout the large living space.
A skylight feeds a majestic tree with natural daylight. Rocks complete the sculptural courtyard arrangement.
Black fluted walls panels run up alongside a modern fireplace to camouflage its purpose when not in use,
A wall of wood grain panels creates a visually warming decor feature, which is atmospherically lit around its edges by recessed ribbons of LED light.
The illuminated wall feature negates the need for wall lamps and provides a more even diffusion of brightness.
Wood effect wall panelling wraps other aspects of the room too, creating continuation and cohesion
Alcoves are brightly lit to chase away the shadows.
A traditional prayer table is set up in the corner of the living space, where a Ganesha statue sits among religious texts.
A Buddha statue makes a meditative adornment to one of the coffee tables.
The courtyard design that lies outside of the living room window is a water-filled space that can be passed via modern, linear stepping stones. A pebble bed makes a solid home for a small yet elegant tree, where it can be drenched in sunshine.
Under the shady overhang of a second floor balcony, an outdoor seating area has been created upon a wide wooden deck. Outdoor chairs gather around a luxe marble coffee table to fashion a conversational arrangement.
As the sun moves around, the deck becomes a warmed area in which to take outdoor tea.
A modern chaise lounge reclines under the shade of the upper balcony.
The courtyard supplies a beautiful view and an influx of natural light to the rooms of the home that surround it. It also creates an outdoor connection that encourages the home owners into the fresh air whilst traversing their living spaces.
Under the rippling surface of the reflection pool, colourful koi fish swim and thrive.
The pool holds up a mirror to the surrounding architecture.
A rockface wall supplies a rugged, textured feature behind the small tree.
A Manjushri statue looks contemplative at the water’s edge.
The parking garage is a well-decorated space, clad with wood slatted wall panelling and floored with smooth, polished concrete screed.
Returning back to the living room, we take a closer look at the spiral staircase design that rises up from a high-gloss black platform. A white marble wall rises behind it to instill contrasting pattern.
A spherical sculpture balances on the polished black base of the staircase, with a magical ring of illumination making a bright halo around it.
The orb sculpture interacts with the curve of the winding staircase to complete a breathtaking visual.
Softly glowing LED strip lights highlight each tread of the spiral staircase, providing safe passage from top to bottom.
Solid balustrades are clad in rich wood veneer to create a striking finish.
The curved motif continues inside of the kitchen diner, where a recessed lighting feature displays a circular outline above a round dining table. A matching wall light expands the rounded aesthetic.
A lightweight dining room pendant light hangs low to the round wooden dining table, which features a luxe white marble inlay.
Cream upholstered dining chairs accommodate up to sixteen people at the dinner table.
Just outside of the dining room window, a second water-filled courtyard provides relaxing sights and sounds with a mini waterfall feature. Koi fish swim beneath the concentric ripples that radiate toward a pathway of stepping stones.
Behind the formal dining area, much of the kitchen has a concealed presence. Kitchen storage and integrated appliances are locked behind slab-fronted, handle-free cabinet doors. Only the kitchen island is obvious to the eye, which houses the kitchen sink and the hob.
The kitchen island is merged with a casual breakfast table at one end, which seats six.
A simple centrepiece adds a brief flash of greenery to the white table.
The kitchen extractor unit rises directly out of the island, allowing it to be completely retracted from view when not in use.
Indoor plants and statues make attractive vignettes at each side of the room.
Abstract artwork hangs moments of intrigue along the corridors of the home.
Other art is inset into the wall stucco itself.
A bright tea room is set up at one end of the large open plan living space, separated from the main lounge by the dominant staircase design, and partially by an obscured glass partition.
The slimline table design has a light presence in the space, whilst a stone tiled feature wall is more commanding. A red chair adds a pop of bold colour.
This modernly decorated room leads into a more traditional setting.
A decorative screen marks a visual stop between the two areas.
A courtyard brings sunlight flooding through.
The decor is a grounding palette of rich browns and dark wood tone. A paper globe pendant light places a bright white core at the centre of the scheme.
A focal wooden sideboard displays beautiful craftsmanship.
Lightweight screens are used throughout to subtly mark transitions of space, whilst allowing the eye to wander through and permitting natural light to be shared.
In this traditional tea room design, a low, rustic bench is paired with simple floor cushions. A scenic mural paints a set of wall panels behind.
Recessed perimeter lights give the room a gentle and special essence.
A paper floor lamp draws attention to the attractive wall treatment.
Bowls, rustic wooden trays and a ceramic vase provide the traditional tea table with decorative elements.
A botanical display of flaming red recalls the red flowers and beautiful sunrise of Jiangnan in springtime.
The rustic and natural elements give the space an earthy, outdoor feel.
With the mural screens rotated, the tearoom joins with the neighbouring room.
A Tetsubin teapot is suspended from the ceiling.
The decorative screens are light translucent, which gives them a wonderfully light essence in the space, whether rotated to be open or fully closed.
Plumes of white pampas grass make a mesmerising display under a focussed lighting installation.
The pale grass reflects in an inky black floor.
Black walls and a black ceiling seal out any external light sources.
Inside the main bedroom, a unique headboard design divides the bed from a dressing area behind it.
The bed is situated to focus upon the window view, which is filtered through sheer white voiles.
A sculptural bedroom chair glints in the sunlight with a lustrous golden finish.
A traditional Chinese scene plays out across the back of the bespoke headboard design.

Veiled in the elegant splendour of nature, this beautiful villa is the majestic home of a three-generation family unit. Designed by Nghia-Architect, delicate curtain creepers fall around the edges of lengthy terraces, creating stunning pockets of peaceful privacy. A contrast of cool concrete and warm wood flows from the modern home exterior into contemporary living spaces. Long skylights bring sunlight flooding in to blur the boundaries between interior and outdoor space. Circular light wells perforate concrete overhangs on the veranda to allow trees to push through towards the sky. Floor plans and a video sneak peek of this fabulous family home are included at the end of our tour.
The modern home exterior glows with inviting light, which adds to the mystery of the shrouding curtain creepers.
The home was designed to serve the different lifestyles of the three-generation family. While the grandparents are accustomed to a traditional Vietnamese lifestyle, the younger family members are acquainted with a modern, multicultural way of living.
The family elders have resided in this area of Vietnam for a long time, so they have built strong connections with their community, and enjoy interacting with their friendly neighbours on a daily basis. A continuous veranda around the perimeter of the home offers a multitude of spots for entertaining. A round light well brightens the area that is predominantly shaded by a concrete overhang.
A mature tree stretches up through the light well, where it seeks out the sun.
There is a second circular cutaway that makes room for an outdoor spiral staircase.
A solid wall divides the veranda just behind the staircase, building a substantial privacy screen that overhangs the garden.
The privacy wall sections off one of the bedrooms and its adjoining terrace area.
Terracotta coloured render gives the concrete wall a warm aesthetic.
An outdoor chair furnishes the bedroom terrace to create a spot for quiet contemplation or reading.
Curtain creepers sway prettily in the breeze.
The second and third generations of this family travel home to Vietnam only a few times a year, so this unique home was designed to include large spaces that would accommodate celebratory family gatherings and social events.
Since there are large differences in the lifestyles of the family members, due to age and culture, a variety of indoor and outdoor living spaces were created to suit different needs and wants.
Large communal spaces were made flexible, so that they can be opened up or closed off. Living spaces peacefully connect with the lush gardens and courtyard.
During the construction of the family villa, much of the native pine tree forest was conserved.
The villa structure extends in different directions to accommodate the landscape, and to protect the pine trees as its own gardens.
Whilst large, the architectural structure succeeds in blending well with its natural surroundings.
Thanks to its green veil, the house is only distinguished by the outline of its upper and lower rooflines. Raw concrete and natural wood grain form a rustic look that coincides with a modern lifestyle.
The sophisticated design of the roof canopy gives the building a thin, gravity redefining look. As it edges the length of the building, it creates a wide, 30 metre long open porch with no sign of a structural column.
Wood slatted shutters open the side of the building to connect with the nature-kissed veranda.
Inside the villa, a wooden dining table seats eight to ten people at dinner. A lightweight dining room chandelier falls in front of the special view. The open porch forms a place where the homeowners and guests can gather after dinner, to take in a breath of fresh air or to admire the rainfall.
Behind the dining area, a contemporary kitchen is equipped with all of the modern appliances needed to cater for large family gatherings.
Green plants and sunlight characterise the cheerful walkways of the home.
Skylights open the connective corridors to the blue sky.
The family residence is divided into three main blocks.
Two private sleeping blocks, each with their own living rooms, are located at each side of the structure.
The central block is home to the kitchen and dining room, which serves as the primary communal space and as a connecting link to all areas.
A glass wall bathroom is elevated above a private garden, with the bathtub situated up front to absorb the green view.
Stepping stones meander through the lawn.
A designer chair provides a stylish pitstop against a board-formed concrete wall.
A pivot door makes a secretive entryway into one of the master bedrooms.
Mature pine trees dwarf the large villa.
Local birds hop up onto the veranda, where hammock seats await on lazy afternoons.
When all closed up, the beautiful wooden shutters fully encase the main living block to stunning effect. Sunlight steals thorough skylights to add to the naturally striped aesthetic.
At sunset, LED lights are set aglow in the floor to uplight the wood slatted home exterior.
The first floor plan illustrates the layout of the three main blocks, with the communal kitchen diner sandwiched between the two private sleeping blocks. Guest rooms are situated at the back of the house, adjacent to a house keepers wing and storage space.
In the second floor plan, we find two more bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.
