Growing up, one of my unsolicited family nicknames was Little Big Hair. Yup, I was a small thing with a lot going on in the hair department. Stylists have always told me how “beauuuutiful” my hair is and how I am “sooo lucky” to have such thick, curly locks, but to me, it has always felt like the exact opposite. While my straight-haired friends could hop out of the shower and be ready to leave the house minutes later looking flawless, I had an ever-evolving multi-step routine that took nearly an hour. Over the years, I’ve tried endless towels, hair wraps, headbands, gels, creams, serums, leave-in conditioners… yeah, I’m an expert in all things hair products. That’s why you can trust me when I tell you that Coyuchi’s Mediterranean Organic Bath Towel is the best hair towel I’ve ever used.

Of all the post-shower hair towels I’ve tried, I’ve never found anything that quite fits my needs like this Coyuchi gem. Ultra-absorbent plush towels get my hair dry, but they’re bulky and heavy when wet. Thinner Turkish towels are easier to manage but get saturated in seconds, and waffle towels are no match for this mane — with the amount of water my hair holds, they stretch out to twice their size and never really go back to normal.

Coyuchi’s Mediterranean Bath Towels combine the strength and absorbability of plush towels with the manageability of thinner ones. They’re similar to Turkish bath towels, but the high/low weave provides superior absorption. I wrap one around my head turban-style when I get out of the shower, and I don’t feel like my neck muscles have to work overtime to support a big, weighty towel. The tight weave grabs my hair and seems to suck the water right out of it without making the towel sopping wet. And since they’re not at all plush (in a good way!), they dry way quicker than traditional bath towels. I don’t have much ventilation in my bathroom, and I absolutely hate it when I reach for a towel that should be dry but isn’t. With the Coyuchi towel, I can shower once a day and never have to deal with icky dampness.

Far more than just a high-functioning bathroom accessory, this towel is the most beautiful one I’ve ever had the opportunity to display. I have it in blue with green stripe detailing (Lake and Sea Spray, to be exact), but it’s available in five elegant color combinations that can complement virtually any decor scheme. In fact, my super-stylish colleague Kendall uses the smaller Guest Towel in her kitchen, where the hand-knotted fringe looks chic against her colorful cookware and ceramics. “It’s excellent for polishing finished wood surfaces, glassware, and cutlery, and it has enough traction to keep wet dishes stable as they air dry on the countertop,” she shared. Turns out the tight weave that sucks so much water from my hair is also aces at absorbing stains and spills!

Supporting companies that respect the planet and its people is a priority for me, and that’s another reason I love Coyuchi. These towels are constructed from 100 percent organic cotton that’s GOTS certified, meaning they’re made using socially and ecologically responsible practices. They also sport the MADE SAFE® seal, so I know they are free from toxins known to harm humans, animals, and the environment.

If you’ve been chasing the elusive dream of a perfect hair care routine your whole life like I have, want a towel that’s uber-stylish and environmentally friendly, or even need a reliable go-to spill solution, I recommend giving Coyuchi’s Mediterranean Organic Bath Towel a try. If you don’t like it (which I highly doubt), Coyuchi gives you 30 days to return it for a full refund. What do you have to lose — other than sub-par towels? Bonus: You can get 20 percent off these towels during Coyuchi’s Earth Day sale (discount automatically applied).

Inspired by the flat weave of many Turkish towel designs, the Mediterranean towels are the ideal texture for quick hand drying and thorough surface cleaning. When paired with my favorite organic disinfectants, dust removers, and wood cleaners, it’s more effective at polishing the surfaces in my home than any paper towel could hope to be, and it stays in great condition use after use, wash after wash. These towels are 100 percent organic cotton, so they clean easily in the washer and dryer when paired with low heat and gentle detergents.

The Mediterranean towel‘s tight weave means it doesn’t trap residue, but its slightly surfaced texture gives it grip and traction for cleaning. It’s excellent for polishing finished wood surfaces, glassware, and cutlery, and it has enough traction to keep wet dishes stable as they air dry on the countertop. Caring for this towel is easy, too. I simply shake mine out after each use, hang it to dry, and admire it fondly until my next spill. When it looks like it could use a wash, I just throw it in the laundry.

I’ve never been too picky when it comes to bath towels. As long as they’re soft, wash well, and are long enough to fully wrap yourself in post shower, my needs are met. But then I tested Parachute’s Classic Turkish Cotton Towels for our Best List, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the most luxe towel I’ve ever used, hands-down. They weren’t just the best overall towels on the list for obvious reasons, with Parachute being a much-loved editor-favorite DTC brand and all. It took one try to realize that it was just like a weighted blanket — in towel form.

After a few uses and washes, it consistently held up to how it felt the first time I tried it: Flatter and heavier than your average bath towel, with a very plush, sleek feel. The weight envelops you in the most soothing, comfortable way, and it gave me almost the same feeling as my favorite weighted blanket draped over me. It’s super plush and washes beautifully, keeping the high-quality feel. It’s also somehow quick-drying, using innovative Aerocotton Technology. With chillier months ahead, I’ll be reaching for this towel at every turn to keep me warm right out of the shower.

They’re made of 100% long-staple Turkish cotton and come in six pretty, muted hues (free of synthetic dyes) that would blend well with any bathroom style. I loved the Coal hue I tried: It was clean and modern, and along with its weight and chic factor, immediately struck me as the kind of towel that belongs in the bathroom of a $10 million home in Malibu. The kind with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and cutting-edge smart appliances. No, I’m not kidding — that was my exact thought! Maybe I watch too many HBO shows, but you get the gist.

At $29 dollars per bath towel, these are definitely a splurge, but if you’re looking to upgrade, these won’t let you down — especially if you have guests visiting. Don’t be surprised when they ask you where you got them!

I tend to have a strict policy on how I use towels. For one, I usually replace them often (never using a towel beyond two to three days in a row), and I always have a separate towel on hand to dry my face. In the past, I’ve also made it a point to have a clear line of separation between my bathroom towels and my beach towels — that was, until I tried Brooklinen’s new Hamman Towel. What I thought was strictly a beach towel turned out to be incredibly soft and absorbent, and it just may find its rightful place in my bathroom.

After I received my package, it didn’t take long to sell me on the fact that these towels, made of 85 percent Turkish cotton, were the real deal. The gorgeous striped design is easy on the eyes (I opted for the Cool Mint colorway) and the material is immediately soft to the touch, even before it goes in the wash. And because I immediately throw new towels and bedding into the washing machine before using them, I was pleased to see them get even softer afterwards. So far, so good!

I discovered the real magic of these super-absorbent towels during a recent beach trip with my sister and five-year-old nephew. It was an impromptu stop during a 90-degree day, and my sister mistakenly forgot to bring towels of her own. As a result, all three of us ended up having to share the Brooklinen Hammam Towel I brought. Surprisingly, it kept us all dry after our swim and didn’t become sopping wet like we expected. In fact, it dried rather quickly by the time we packed up our beach bag. To say I was stunned would be an understatement. It was then that I knew this towel was the real deal. As if the absorbency wasn’t enough of a selling point, I also love that this towel measures 40″ x 70″, which is the perfect size if you’re using this to lay out on (which we did after drying off).

After our beach day, I was curious to see how the Brooklinen towel would fare as a bath towel. Similar to its performance at the beach, it ended up being one of the fastest drying towels I’ve ever used. I love the ample size of the fabric, which gives me more surface area to dry my hair and body. The terry cloth side of the towel is so heavenly soft and is just the thing you want to be wrapped up in after a hot shower. So far, I’ve washed this towel three times and I’ve noticed no pilling or unraveling of the terry cloth. When it’s all dry, this towel folds flat and fits easily into the linen closet without much bulkiness. Unlike other towels I’ve tested and shared with my family, this is one that I want to keep all to myself.

Though the Brooklinen Hammam Towel is a bit on the pricier side, I won’t hesitate to buy it again in different colors. Suffice it to say, I think I’ve found my favorite summer splurge.
