I’ve never been too picky when it comes to bath towels. As long as they’re soft, wash well, and are long enough to fully wrap yourself in post shower, my needs are met. But then I tested Parachute’s Classic Turkish Cotton Towels for our Best List, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the most luxe towel I’ve ever used, hands-down. They weren’t just the best overall towels on the list for obvious reasons, with Parachute being a much-loved editor-favorite DTC brand and all. It took one try to realize that it was just like a weighted blanket — in towel form.

After a few uses and washes, it consistently held up to how it felt the first time I tried it: Flatter and heavier than your average bath towel, with a very plush, sleek feel. The weight envelops you in the most soothing, comfortable way, and it gave me almost the same feeling as my favorite weighted blanket draped over me. It’s super plush and washes beautifully, keeping the high-quality feel. It’s also somehow quick-drying, using innovative Aerocotton Technology. With chillier months ahead, I’ll be reaching for this towel at every turn to keep me warm right out of the shower.

They’re made of 100% long-staple Turkish cotton and come in six pretty, muted hues (free of synthetic dyes) that would blend well with any bathroom style. I loved the Coal hue I tried: It was clean and modern, and along with its weight and chic factor, immediately struck me as the kind of towel that belongs in the bathroom of a $10 million home in Malibu. The kind with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and cutting-edge smart appliances. No, I’m not kidding — that was my exact thought! Maybe I watch too many HBO shows, but you get the gist.

At $29 dollars per bath towel, these are definitely a splurge, but if you’re looking to upgrade, these won’t let you down — especially if you have guests visiting. Don’t be surprised when they ask you where you got them!

I tend to have a strict policy on how I use towels. For one, I usually replace them often (never using a towel beyond two to three days in a row), and I always have a separate towel on hand to dry my face. In the past, I’ve also made it a point to have a clear line of separation between my bathroom towels and my beach towels — that was, until I tried Brooklinen’s new Hamman Towel. What I thought was strictly a beach towel turned out to be incredibly soft and absorbent, and it just may find its rightful place in my bathroom.

After I received my package, it didn’t take long to sell me on the fact that these towels, made of 85 percent Turkish cotton, were the real deal. The gorgeous striped design is easy on the eyes (I opted for the Cool Mint colorway) and the material is immediately soft to the touch, even before it goes in the wash. And because I immediately throw new towels and bedding into the washing machine before using them, I was pleased to see them get even softer afterwards. So far, so good!

I discovered the real magic of these super-absorbent towels during a recent beach trip with my sister and five-year-old nephew. It was an impromptu stop during a 90-degree day, and my sister mistakenly forgot to bring towels of her own. As a result, all three of us ended up having to share the Brooklinen Hammam Towel I brought. Surprisingly, it kept us all dry after our swim and didn’t become sopping wet like we expected. In fact, it dried rather quickly by the time we packed up our beach bag. To say I was stunned would be an understatement. It was then that I knew this towel was the real deal. As if the absorbency wasn’t enough of a selling point, I also love that this towel measures 40″ x 70″, which is the perfect size if you’re using this to lay out on (which we did after drying off).

After our beach day, I was curious to see how the Brooklinen towel would fare as a bath towel. Similar to its performance at the beach, it ended up being one of the fastest drying towels I’ve ever used. I love the ample size of the fabric, which gives me more surface area to dry my hair and body. The terry cloth side of the towel is so heavenly soft and is just the thing you want to be wrapped up in after a hot shower. So far, I’ve washed this towel three times and I’ve noticed no pilling or unraveling of the terry cloth. When it’s all dry, this towel folds flat and fits easily into the linen closet without much bulkiness. Unlike other towels I’ve tested and shared with my family, this is one that I want to keep all to myself.

Though the Brooklinen Hammam Towel is a bit on the pricier side, I won’t hesitate to buy it again in different colors. Suffice it to say, I think I’ve found my favorite summer splurge.

These Bath Towels Are so Luxurious, My Family Actually Fights Over Them

These Bath Towels Are so Luxurious, My Family Actually Fights Over Them

Like so many city dwellers, I temporarily moved back home with my parents during the pandemic. Since I get the benefit of living rent-free and indulging in my mother’s delicious home-cooked meals, I figured the least I could do is to share some of the lifestyle goodies I get to test as an AT editor with my folks. One product that’s caused a rather hilarious rivalry in my home are Frontgate Resort Cotton Bath Towels, which are so absorbent and plush that everyone in my family (including me) actually scrambles to get hold of them first on laundry day.

So, what’s so marvelous about these towels that make my household rush to the dryer? For one, you’ll notice right out of the package that they’re of superior quality: super thick and plush, and also cotton candy-soft. Made from 100 percent long-staple Turkish cotton woven to 700 GSM, these towels can actually withstand lots of moisture and dry in no time. I’ve been able to dry my body and also my thick, curly hair fresh out of the shower without being left with a sopping wet towel.

They’ve also held up beautifully in between wash cycles. Frontgate’s resort towels are made with a “zero twist” process that plumps and stabilizes the yarn and keeps the cotton fibers from shedding. I chose the color French Blue, and while I’ve noticed an ever-so-slight slight fading in its previous cosmic midnight shade, I haven’t seen a single stray fiber unravel. When it’s my turn to use this towel, it feels like total treat — almost like stepping out of a sauna at a five-star resort. The feeling of being wrapped in it is reminiscent of the luxurious feeling you get at a fancy spa. Frankly, it’s hard to go back to using anything else once you’ve experienced them.

But spa feelings aside, I truly knew these towels were something to behold when my stepfather, who isn’t impressed by much, made several trips to the linen closet looking for them. “These towels are excellent,” he said to me one evening, before asking, “Is there any way you can get more?” *Adds Frontgate towels to my family Christmas list.*

All in all, if your current towels are in serious need of an upgrade and you’re ready to invest in new ones that are made to last, Frontgate’s resort cotton bath towels are some of the best that money can buy. Right now is actually the perfect time to take the plunge, as they’re part of Frontgate’s summer clearance sale, along with other quality home finds. But purchase with caution: These towels will pamper you to the point of no return.
