I initially planned on waiting until the future when I was living alone with a nicer kitchen to treat myself to any pricier investment cookware items like a Le Creuset Dutch oven — that is, until the Staub 4-Quart Cocotte with Glass Lid went on major sale for Black Friday. When I saw this cast iron beauty (that can costs upwards of $400!) was on sale for what most average Dutch ovens cost, I couldn’t help myself. And lucky for you, it’s still on sale for the holidays at just $130!
We’ve written all about why Staub’s iconic Cocotte (aka a Dutch oven) is worth the money, due to the multi-step quality control process. Each oven takes a full week to make and is checked by over 20 people! One of the most important aspects of its design is the uniform wall thickness to avoid cracking in the oven and peeling or chipping later on. Buying this piece of cookware, I felt confident that it’ll be with me for quite a while.
In addition to the super-low price, a big motivating factor in purchasing this specific product was its size. Not only am I cooking for just one, but I also don’t like making large batches of dishes because I don’t have enough room in my shared fridge to store huge quantities of leftovers — nor do I like eating the same thing all week. Instead, this 4-quart Dutch oven is the perfect size for making two to four servings, leaving me with reasonable leftover portions.
Its small size also means that it’s not as heavy as the typical 6- or 7-quart Dutch ovens, which can weigh up to 15 pounds! Instead, this compact pot clocks in at just under nine pounds. It still has some heft to it, which makes it feel sturdy and long lasting, but it’s not too heavy that I never want to take it out. And it’s not even a pain to clean!
One aspect I felt hesitant about before buying was the cast iron interior. Like many people, maintaining cast iron equipment intimidates me. However, with the first dish I made, I instantly noticed a difference. I made chicken stew and seared the chicken thighs in the Dutch oven first, getting a gorgeous deep-brown sear. This resulted in such a delicious flavor after letting the broth, chicken, carrots, and potatoes simmer on the stove (the glass lid also let me keep an eye on it without opening and letting the steam out!). I was shocked that a dish that made me lick my bowl clean was the result of such minimal cooking effort.
I sometimes feel self-conscious about my kitchen; I’m still using mix-and-match plates, bowls, and cutlery (that date back to college), and I lack some essential items, like serving spoons (don’t judge!). But having such an impressive statement piece makes me actually feel like an adult when I’m cooking. And knowing that I got it for an absolute steal doesn’t hurt either.

Holiday sale season is here, and Zwilling is joining in on the fun with a slew of savings on their popular products. In fact, the brand just announced a massive price drop on its iconic Staub Classic 4-Quart Cocotte. As part of the retailer’s limited-time holiday sale, you can now score this Dutch oven right now for just $99.99 (normally $386). Yes, you heard that right. That’s an astounding $250 price drop! This sale ends December 16, so we recommend you add to cart ASAP. Holiday meal prep won’t wait.
The 4-quart cocotte is definitely compact but large enough for that delicious soup you plan to make all winter long. Its sturdy cast iron construction has exceptional heat-conducting abilities, making it perfect for browning, braising, and even baking. The glass lid allows for maximum visibility during cooking, so that moist chicken recipe will come out perfectly every time. If you’re worried about ruining its stunning enameled exterior, don’t be: It’s chip resistant and designed to stay as beautiful as the day it was purchased, no matter how many times it travels from the oven to the dinner table. The pot is also oven safe up to a dial-defying 900 degrees without the lid and 500 degrees with it, making it perfect for stove-to-oven cooking.
Zwilling’s Staub cocotte sale includes pieces in a range of gorgeous colors, including Dark Blue, Turquoise, White Truffle, Cherry, and Graphite Grey. As an added bonus, you can also scoop up this deal at kitchenware mecca Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma (especially if you already have a cart filled with their bestsellers!) in three colorways, or buy it from Food52 with their exclusive Sesame and Turmeric shades. With such a low price on a truly versatile piece of cookware, grabbing this deal is the easy part. Deciding which color to buy, on the other hand, might prove a bit harder!

Made of the famous Staub glass porcelain-enamel finish, this baking dish will look gorgeous whether resting on your stovetop or served on your table. The enamel glaze also prevents your dish from absorbing moisture, which in turn avoids dried-out food or a stained finish. What we really love about this dish is how versatile it would be in your kitchen — use it for gooey brownies, apple crisp, baked mac and cheese, potatoes gratin, and so much more. It’ll be the ultimate dish for the holidays, perfect for desserts and delicious sides!
The ceramic lid will come in handy all the time, whether you’re roasting or keeping food warm on the table. It even allows for easy storage whether you’re cooking ahead and plan on reheating later or putting away leftovers. It works similarly to the tight-fitting lid of their Dutch oven, ensuring even cooking and sealing in moisture. It’s even freezer-, microwave-, and broiler-safe (in addition to being fridge- and oven-safe, of course!), so you can use it practically every day. Then when you’re done, cleanup is a breeze — either easily wash food off its smooth surface or stick it in the dishwasher.
At just $99.99, it’s hard to say no to this Ceramic Covered Baking Dish. Because it’s half off, you can buy a dish for yourself and for your brownie-loving friend all for the price of one. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you ask us!
