With more time spent at home means more time watching TV, so it’s no surprise that some of our favorite Netflix shows have influenced our interior design. Whether it’s design elements from reality shows such as “The Home Edit,” or a regal moments from period dramas such as “The Crown,” and “The Queen’s Gambit,” our viewing habits providing a bunch of inspiration.

Taking a look at the most-watched shows on the streamer and the design styles seen throughout them, Harris Brushes recently conducted a study that found the top Netflix shows that are crossing over into our interior design.

Coming in at number one is “Stranger Things“. The first instalment of the much-anticipated fourth season took three years (!) to be released thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it was well worth the wait. Set in the ’80s, the series features plenty of retro decor and wood panelling. Searches for “MDF Wall Panelling Kits” are up by 400 percent according to Google Trends, while over on TikTok, content creators are designing their own “Stranger Things”-inspired spaces, whether it’s an alphabet wall or incorporating retro accessories.

Second place goes to “Selling Sunset”, with the light and clean Los Angeles aesthetic influencing people to go for neutral decor that’s often associated with the sprawling homes in the Hollywood Hills.

“The Crown” comes in at third place, with floral wallpaper and antique accents becoming a popular addition. To create a look fit for royalty, opt for a dark wood or mahogany finish for your furniture, as well as reaching for rich fabrics and jewel tones.

“The Home Edit” takes fourth place, a show that inspires to declutter and renew our spaces. #TheHomeEdit has more than 111,000 posts on Instagram, while the tag #TheHomeEditMadeMeDoIt has 1.8 million views on TikTok.

Finally, rounding out the top five is “The Queen’s Gambit.” One of the key interior trends to emerge from the show is clashing patterns, found in wallpaper, rugs and accessories, something that’s extremely prominent in both home design and fashion in 2022.

Full House” fans, this one’s for you! The iconic Victorian-style home that featured in the sitcom’s opening credits is now on the market—although Uncle Jesse is not included.

The residence, known as the “Pink Painted Lady“, is part of the renowned Seven Sisters, or more commonly known as the “Painted Ladies,” or “Postcard Row”, located on Steiner Street in San Francisco, one of the city’s most recognizable blocks. Spanning 2,500 square-foot, the home was built in the 1890s and has featured in countless TV shows and movies, becoming one of the most photographed landmarks in the city.

It has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage across three stories, making it the perfect property for a growing family. Outside, there’s a large patio area and sprawling views of the green rolling hills of Alamo Square. From the kitchen at the back of the house there is a full view of the dome of San Francisco City Hall, and on the second and third floors, the property boasts striking views of the downtown skyline.

Racking up over 20,000 Instagram followers, Culver took fans on a journey from first purchasing the home to the bittersweet moment she announced her intent to sell.

“It is with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to sell the Pink Painted Lady,” Culver wrote in an Instagram post. “I would love to transition to a new owner who cares as much as I do (or more!) about this special home.”

Listed for $3,550,000, the same amount as Culver paid for it in 2020, the property will include current building plans, permits, and social media accounts with the sale, if desired.

If you haven’t already heard the news, HGTV is here to remind us all that there’s a new “Barbie” movie coming out next year, complete with an A-list cast and plenty of pink. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will be leading as Barbie and Ken respectively, and America Ferrera, Simu Liu, and Will Ferrell also star in the upcoming romantic comedy film based on the iconic Mattel toys.

Earlier this week, the HGTV Instagram account shared a photo collage that featured Robbie and Gosling in movie stills, along with a snap of a neon kitchen that really makes a bold statement.

“Adding Barbie, Ken, and their kitchen to our summer mood board,” the caption reads.

The kitchen in question features neon green cabinetry, neon pink countertops, and a neon orange feature wall. Basically, it’s straight out of a Barbie wonderland. And while you may think it’s a still from a set of the upcoming movie, you’d be mistaken. The space is actually a real kitchen in someone’s house.

The eye-catching space, according to Star Tribune, was designed by Elina Katsioula-Beall of DeWitt Designer Kitchens. Katsioula-Beall worked with the property’s owners in 2015 to create a bright and colorful kitchen that looks like it’s straight out of a Crayola box (or, you know, a Barbie movie starring Robbie and Gosling). The owners envisioned an Alice in Wonderland-esque space for their Pasadena home, as well as wanting to bring in a touch of the outdoors. To achieve this, Katsioula-Beall incorporated iridescent tiles and a silver painted backsplash, in addition to the neon color palette.

HGTV fans were quick to comment on the vibrant space that certainly grabbed a bunch of attention.

“Oh my gosh! Wow!” one person wrote.

“So much fun!!!” another added.

A third commented: “Love this!! Thank you for sharing!!”

“Barbie” is set to be released in theaters in July 2023.

The map also allows you to virtually visit some of the show’s most jaw-dropping spots via street view.

Would it even be a “Selling Sunset” itinerary if you didn’t start your day off at The Oppenheim Group office? The clue’s in the name, but the iconic office is located on Sunset Boulevard.

If you’re looking to celebrate in style, head to Pour Vous, the location of Mary’s explosive bachelorette party, or indulge in a delicious brunch at Le Petit Four, a much-loved California-French restaurant that’s located right by The O Group’s office.

To make sure you’re visiting the “Selling Sunset” spots at the best time, the Google Maps team suggests making the most of some of its innovative features that will help you beat traffic and long lines.

“Area Busyness uses live busyness trends to help you spot when a neighborhood or part of town is near or at its busiest,” explains a Google Maps representative. “It can help you identify busy areas to avoid, or be the ultimate companion while traveling to find the more popular areas and lively neighborhoods in town.”
