Here at Apartment Therapy, there are some DTC brands we find ourselves consistently turning to when looking to stock our homes and kitchens. And when it comes to ceramicware, we have an undeniable obsession with community-founded pottery brand, East Fork. The brand specializes in tasteful, muted colors and an organic feel, resulting in fan-favorite pieces that sell out faster than you can click add-to-cart. And while we find ourselves picking up gorgeous mugs, bowls, and dinner sets for our homes year-round, we anxiously await East Fork’s rare Seconds Sale. This can’t-miss savings event doesn’t happen too often and features some of their slightly imperfect wares at a discount — they even donate a percent of the proceeds from the sales as an added bonus!

And this weekend, we can finally put our anticipation to rest. That’s right, East Fork is having a surprise summer sale! You can score dozens of coveted, one-of-a-kind items for 50 percent off — that’s 30 percent more of a discount than previous sales on the site. The only catch: The pieces are available until they sell out. AKA you need to act fast in order to take advantage of the sale.

The sale is chock full of East Fork classics, like the ever-so-coveted The Mug, endlessly versatile Everyday Bowls, and fun, large serving bowls and platters all of which are available in a variety of stylish colors (including some of our favorite hues!). Each piece is hand-crafted with regional materials (local to North Carolina) and is 100 percent lead-free. Every bowl, plate, and mug is also microwave- and dishwasher-safe so that reheating and cleaning is just as breezy as using them.

Now, just because the discounted pieces are seconds does not mean they’re any less beautiful! These pieces either have minor blemishes, slight variances in shape or hue, or small scratches. But all the pottery included in the sale is perfectly safe and functional and still absolutely stunning. In fact, we love the fact that these reserved pieces have just a little more character. Who doesn’t want dinnerware no one else has?

With or without minor imperfections, East Fork is truly one of the best when it comes to craftsmanship, style, durability, and utility. Its virtually unheard of to get the chance to score these functional masterpieces at 50 percent off, even if they are a little more unique than their full-priced counterparts. Our philosophy? A little scratch never hurt anyone!

East Fork Pottery Just Released a Brand New Color and It’s a Real Breath of Spring

East Fork, one of our readers’ favorite pottery studios, is back at it again with a gorgeous new glaze that will put you right in a spring mood. Their most recent seasonal glazes have included the opulent Rococo that was perfect for the holidays as well as the moody Black Mountain for a bold backdrop to any meal. And, in addition to these limited releases, the brand even brought back one of their most popular glazes, Utah, which you can still get your hands on.

Now, in honor of spring, they’re launching Fiddlehead, an earthy green that will instantly make your table look bright and welcoming. East Fork will be releasing Fiddlehead today, Apr. 7, at 11 a.m. ET, so get ready to set your alarm. Like the rest of the East Fork glazes, you can expect to see Fiddlehead across all of their pottery offerings, including cups and mugs, plates, bowls, sets, and of course, the fan-favorite The Mug.

As we’ve come to expect from the beloved Asheville-based pottery studio, there’s a ton of inspiration behind the creation of the Fiddlehead hue. They write on their website that it’s a reminder of the “tender ferns that break free of the winter ground,” ready for spring, filling you with “a fresh breath of ease.” The color also perfectly complements the natural speckling of the pottery’s iron-rich clay, which peeks out along the rim and on the base of certain pieces.

Because there’s the entire East Fork pottery collection to shop this new hue in, we’ve selected three of our favorite options that we think would make great additions to your collection, starting with The Mug. This drinking vessel has a following online (just search #themug on Instagram!) as well as a fan club among our editors, too. Kitchn Senior Commerce Editor, Danielle, said that she’ll never go back to another mug after trying it.

“With a 12-ounce capacity, a thick handle designed to feel like an extension of your hand, and substantive, chip-proof construction, this is the only mug I want to use every day for my morning coffee or afternoon tea,” she said. Leave it to East Fork to put intention behind every inch of this piece!

There’s also the Everyday Bowl that will quickly become your go-to piece of dinnerware. It’s one of those bowls you can use for just about anything, from cereal and yogurt to salads, pasta, and soup. If you wanted to invest in just one East Fork item, the Everyday Bowl is a great option.

If you really want to embrace this new shade, investing in the Dinner Set is the way to go. It includes a dinner plate, a side plate, and the Ice Cream Bowl, and is perfect for accommodating dinner, lunch, and snacks.

With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day fast approaching, now is the time to invest in a few East Fork pieces in the newest Fiddlehead glaze as a thoughtful gift. It’s in stock through June, so make sure you buy it before it’s gone!

East Fork, one of our favorite pottery brands here at Kitchn, has been on a roll lately when it comes to new releases. We’ve fawned over their brand new glazes, including the dramatic Black Mountain and the rosy pink Rococo, as well as product launches like The Coupe, a shallow bowl-plate hybrid, or the charming Tea Party Set. With winter fast approaching, it’s the perfect time of year to include these gorgeous hand-crafted items to your holiday gift list or add them to your own collection at home.

Now, just in time for cozy mugs of hot chocolate, East Fork has announced their latest release, the Sunday Morning Mug, which officially launches today at 12pm ET. With its large size and sloped sides, it’s the perfect mug for cradling in your hands while snuggled on the couch. Although it’s available starting today from their Small Batch Studio, it’ll only be made in a limited quantity which means it’s going to sell out fast!

Known for their super popular mug (aptly named The Mug) that’s sold out several times, we’re thrilled that the North Carolina-based ceramics company is offering another way to upgrade our morning coffee. The Sunday Morning Mug is the kind of mug that you want to hold with both hands and curl up with it and a good book on — you guessed it — a Sunday morning. It arrives in three glazes, including East Fork’s two newest seasonal shades mentioned before, Black Mountain and Rococo, plus their classic Panna Cotta.

If you’re someone who loves a giant cup of coffee or likes to use your mugs for soup, cereal, and ice cream as well, this mug would be a great fit. It can fit 14 ounces of liquid comfortably or 16 ounces if you fill it to the top (or if you want to top your cocoa with whipped cream!), meaning it holds an additional 4 ounces of volume than The Mug. Plus, like most of East Fork’s pottery pieces, the Sunday Morning Mug is safe in both the dishwasher and microwave.

This mug will be a special present for a friend (or yourself!) because it’s wheel-thrown and hand-glazed by East Fork’s own design studio manager, Cade Holloman-Cook, who is behind all the pieces in the Small Batch collection. While each pottery piece from East Fork is impressive and hand-crafted, there’s something extra special about their Small Batch offerings, knowing that they have a rare availability and are treated with such individual care.

Make sure that if you want to pick up a mug or two that you act now before they’re all gone! Now, excuse us while we resume our daydreaming of sipping from this mug on a snowy evening indoors or a sunny morning on the front porch.

East Fork Pottery Just Launched an Elegant New Colorway That’s Perfect for Every Day

East Fork Pottery Just Launched an Elegant New Colorway That’s Perfect for Every Day

As holiday shoppers hunt for deals today, pottery-lovers have their eyes set on something worthy of its own celebration: East Fork Pottery is marking Black Friday with the release of Black Mountain, a new, moody glaze that the brand describes as a “lustrous graphite black.” If you’re as obsessed with East Fork as we are, you know that this new colorway comes on the heels of the beautiful rosy-hued Rococo, which the brand launched earlier this month. East Fork’s habit of releasing (and subsequently selling out of) limited edition glazes, chef collaborations, and silhouettes is somewhat legendary, and given Black Mountain’s beautiful versatility, we expect to see history repeat itself.

Like some of East Fork’s retired glazes, Black Mountain is a bit of a departure from their core lineup, and, as only darkly-colored dinnerware can do, provides a neutral but bold backdrop, whether you’re serving a homemade meal or takeout. East Fork poetically compares the color to a pencil point and a raven in moonlight, and the dark tone hides the natural speckling of the pottery’s iron-rich clay, which only peeks out along rims and on the base of certain pieces. Each piece is fired at high temperature, making them chip resistant and microwave- and dishwasher-safe.

Black Mountain is being offered across all of East Fork’s individual pieces and dinnerware configurations, and we’ve featured three below that are likely to sell out fast. Ask any of the Kitchn staffers who own East Fork, and they’ll admit that they’re an investment. But when something is this durable, timeless, and collectible, we’d argue that it’s one worth making.

If there’s one piece of pottery that put East Fork on everyone’s radar, it’s their Mug. If you need any proof, just look up the hashtag #themug, and see for yourself how many fans have sung its praises over the years, leading to multiple waiting lists and sell-outs in various glazes. The mug holds up to 12 ounces of your favorite beverage, and has a thick handle that’s designed to feel like an extension of your hand. The mug’s budget-friendly $34 price tag would make it a thoughtful gift for someone special on your holiday list or as a thank you. Another idea? Reward yourself with a new desk mug for making it through (another) year of remote work.

East Fork’s Soup Bowl holds a healthy 3 ¼ cups, giving you plenty of room to ladle in your favorite chili, bisque, or stew with room for croutons and other accoutrements. Of course, you can use the bowl for much more, food-related or not. Measuring 7 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall, it can double as a pasta or cereal bowl, a place to keep trinkets, or to display a few pieces of fruit if you want to use it as a decorative item.

East Fork offers several three- and five-piece dinnerware sets, but their Potter’s Dinner Set is a fan favorite, and includes their classic dinner plate, side plate, and ice cream bowl. While the set is certainly a bigger-ticket item, each piece can be used individually or together. With the holidays coming up, this is a good opportunity to ask for a setting or plant the seed now for an upcoming milestone or birthday. As East Fork’s Instagram feed proves, many people mix and match their dinnerware sets, which gives tables an eclectic, collected look.
