If you want to see the iconic flying house from the Pixar movie “Up,” you don’t have to travel all the way to Paradise Falls to do so. You can just walk over to your kitchen.
To welcome the new year, Disney has released new merch that includes mugs and tumblers, makeup kits, and loungewear, among many others. One of the most noteworthy products in the collection — not to mention the cutest — is a cookie jar that’s a miniature replica of Carl Fredricksen’s house from “Up.”
The ceramic jar looks exactly like the one in the movie, complete with the string of balloons tied to the chimney, but minus the grumpy old man who owns the property. To grab a cookie, carefully lift the roof, using the balloons as a handle, to reveal the container within. Bonus if you fill it with Junior Wilderness Explorer cookies as reference to Russell, or even dog treats to honor Dug.
Even for those who don’t have a sweet tooth, the jar looks so aesthetic that it will also look good as geeky decor on your bookshelf or tabletop. Other “Up”-themed options on ShopDisney include a house-shaped Christmas ornament ($19.99), a stainless steel tumbler ($22.99), and a throw pillow that says, “Home is where the adventure is” ($34.99).
The cookie jar costs $60 and is available here.

While homes can’t be literally magical like the one in Disney’s “Encanto,” they sure can be just as colorful. Sherwin-Williams and Walt Disney Animation Studios have released a series of color palettes based on the colorful personalities of the Madrigal family so you can make your dwellings enchanting, too.
One of the film’s highlights is its generous use of color. The palettes not only make “Encanto” more visually stunning but also helps illustrate each character’s personality and their unique private spaces at home. And now, you can use those same colors to make our own rooms equally special.
There are five palettes to choose from. Mirabel’s palette features bright blues, electric lime hues, and pops of pink to reflect her endearing spirit. Isabela’s collection of hues, meanwhile, includes shades of lavender as a reference to her ability to conjure flowers and plants. And Luisa’s palette is a combination of bold hues and softer shades, which is all about creating a balance for self-love.
“The new animated feature ‘Encanto’ shines a colorful spotlight on what we at Sherwin-Williams truly believe, that our homes are a magical world waiting to be explored,” Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing at Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release. “This colorful collaboration between ‘Encanto’ and the world of paint is sure to inspire anyone looking to sprinkle some magic in their home.”
If you check out the Sherwin-Williams website, there’s also a page where you can take a quiz to see which character you relate to the most, as well as another page detailing the behind-the-scenes creative process that went into the movie.
So go forth and fill your home with color, courtesy of one of the many palettes inspired by “Encanto.”

Disney’s “Merriest Nites” consists of six holiday events at Disneyland Park on select nights during Nov. and Dec. 2021. According to the Disney website, “Merriest Nites” will feature new twists on the classic holiday favorites hosted at the park during the season. Attendees get after-hours admission to Disneyland Park to enjoy popular attractions, live entertainment, and plenty of photo ops, among other things.
You’ll see Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Miguel, Tiana, Elsa, Lilo, Stitch, and Buzz Lightyear, and there will be access to attractions such as “It’s a Small World” and Haunted Mansion with shorter wait times. Keep in mind that some areas will not be open during event hours (Mickey’s Toontown, Critter Country, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, being a few).
A special performance of A Christmas Fantasy Parade will take place, and there will be plenty of festive photo ops throughout the experience. Additionally, you’ll be able to purchase holiday merchandise as well as festive bites and beverages. (Make mine a hot chocolate, please!) And it wouldn’t be the festive season without snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A., and an appearance from Santa Claus himself.

Deep in the real life forest that inspired the Hundred Acre Wood of A.A. Milne’s stories, you’ll find a treehouse made to look like Winnie the Pooh’s home. It’s available for rent from Airbnb for just two nights, and even if you aren’t one of the lucky UK residents to book it, you can live vicariously through the photos and details below.
The Bearbnb is located in England’s Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, and the house was curated by Disney-appointed Winnie the Pooh illustrator Kim Raymond to celebrate the 95th anniversary of Pooh. Raymond, who has been drawing the iconic bear for more than 30 years, designed the adorable acorn-accented wallpaper and stocked the kitchen cupboards with ‘hunny’ pots.
In bringing Pooh’s house to life, Raymond took inspiration from the original decorations of English artist E.H. Shepard. “I have been illustrating Winnie the Pooh for 30 years and I continue to be inspired by the classic decorations of E.H. Shepard and the more recent Disney stories,” he said. “The ‘Bearbnb’ is a unique experience that brings the charm of Pooh to life for fans, whilst honoring the original adventures that have been so important to many people for 95 years.”
Winnie the Pooh fans will instantly recognize the house wrapped in trees with the bell to the side of the door and plank of wood that reads ‘Mr. Sanders’ with the backwards “s” above it. The cozy home sleeps four, with a double bed on the ground floor and lofted single beds on either side. Guests who book a stay will be taken on a guided tour through the forest and enjoy locally sourced ‘hunny’-inspired meals. Yoga mats, journals, and throws will be provided to encourage guests to embrace their natural surroundings the way Pooh does.
The dedication to bringing Winnie the Pooh’s home to life is seen in the physical details as well as the Airbnb listing itself. Under “House Rules,” the listing reads “Strictly no heffalumps inside the house,” “Hands are to be kept out of the honey pots,” and “Poohsticks is mandatory.” In case you need a refresher, Poohsticks is a game where players drop a stick from the upstream side of a bridge into the water, and whoever’s stick first appears on the downstream side wins.
If you’re a UK resident, you can book the Airbnb for a stay on Sept. 24 or 25 for £95 per night. Booking goes live on the listing page at 2 p.m. BST on Monday, Sept. 20. All booking fees will be donated to Together for Short Lives.
