Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I am a teacher who loves to find things that truly speak to me. Not too picky about pedigree, but if I love it, I include it in my home. I love earthy colors: cognac, cream, olive, mustard, turquoise, and black. I collect art and love a hand-painted wall or two or three.

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is my bedroom. It is personal and reflects my love of Afrocentric artifacts collected from all over the world.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I found a pillow that was just too fabulous to go on the bed. So I had a picture framer mount a hanger and now it’s art on the wall.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Mid-century, Afrocentric, bohemianesque

Any advice for creating a home you love? Trends come and go. But your home has to be livable and loveable to you. Be inspired by others, but don’t forget to stamp it with some things that are uniquely you. Thrift, craft, shop, DIY. Don’t buy it all at once from one store.
