Ah, the Met Gala. The extravagant annual event was back for 2021, and we got to witness all the elegant, unique, and slightly confusing (looking at you, Kim K) outfits as famous faces gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the opening of this year’s Costume Institute exhibition: In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
If you’re wanting to bring a little bit of Met Gala flair into your home, Modsy has reimagined some of the most talked-about looks from this year’s gala. From a vibrant bedroom inspired by Iman’s unbelievable look to the power and optimism in Dan Levy’s ensemble, the team of Modsy designers has created interior spaces that Anna Wintour would be proud of.
Kim Kardashian Dining Room
Modsy designer Peter Carr took inspiration from Kim Kardashian’s bold, minimal look and incorporated her monochromatic color choice for a luxurious aesthetic. A set of tall occasional chairs on either side of the buffet evoke the split-train of Kardashian’s daring Met Gala outfit. This opens the side of the table to highlight its contemporary-shaped base. A pared-back design with strong rules (a bold monochromatic palette) mimics the strength and focus of the vision behind the beauty mogul’s look.
Naomi Osaka’s Dressing Room
Designed by Mackenzie Rifkin, this punk meets Japandi in this moody dressing room is brilliantly bold. Modsy selected the Orba Pendant from Nuevo to bring in a sculptural element that is reminiscent of Naomi Osaka’s looped hairstyle. The shape of Osaka’s layered sleeves inspired the curved Marigold Desk and Infinity Swivel Chair, elements that also help to give the space a modern feel.
