Since it’s part of my job to know about all the latest launches from home decor brands, I’d say I’m pretty well versed in what’s out there —but I’m always looking to discover more. That’s why when I stumble into a reasonably-priced store I’ve never seen before or hear about a brand that’s creating stylish, quality pieces that don’t cost a small fortune, I’m all about it. My latest discovery? The furniture brand Castlery, which checks both of those boxes. If you’re a fan of West Elm or CB2, Castlery carries pieces that have the look of both, but, in general, cost less.

A direct-to-consumer furniture retailer, Castlery was founded in Singapore and first arrived stateside in 2019. By cutting out the middleman and stocking a tightly-curated collection of pieces, Castlery can charge somewhat less for their items without compromising on style, silhouette, or quality. Of course, the selection is somewhat limited, and you don’t get the customization or bespoke selection you’d see with a vendor like Interior Define. But if you’re looking for a sofa, accent chair, or even a wooden coffee table, I’m willing to make a bet that something here might catch your eye.

Upholstered and wooden furniture for the living room, bedroom, and dining room are Castlery’s strong suit, though they stock storage pieces and some office furniture, too. In general, the silhouettes, fabrics, color palette, and finishes skew mid-century modern, but you can find some more contemporary, trendier gems in their mix, too, like this bouclé swivel chair (for less than $500!).

With sofas starting at $799 and maxing out at under $3,000 for big sectionals — and the rest of the pricing following similar arcs — it’s worth looking at Castlery the next time you’re shopping for a piece. Delivery times aren’t outrageous, even as the pandemic continues to disrupt supply chains. Moreover, the site is constantly running promos and offers free shipping for any purchases over $999.
