When you’re creating your Pinterest board for bedroom inspiration, the more luxe-looking spaces can feel out of reach — and out of budget. But the truth is, there are tons of hacks and budget-friendly DIYs to help you create the space you’ve been dreaming about. This jaw-dropping bedroom transformation is proof that with a little imagination, a small budget can go a long way.

Nida Rehman (@lovenida__) started out with a guest room that was a space that “no one wanted to chill in,” she says. Not exactly ideal for a room devoted to chilling.

Because the primary use for this bedroom was for guests, Nida wanted to make it as cozy and inviting as possible. Her goal was to transform this room into an oasis for family and friends “so now, if you entered the room, you would immediately feel relaxed,” she says.

Nida started her makeover on the walls, deciding to create an arched accent wall behind the bed. To pull it off, she bought large sheets of plywood before cutting arches out of them herself. “The arches took some time to make because it did require some calculations,” she says. However, once the math was done, it wasn’t hard to understand the process and get them installed and ready for paint. Nida used a combo of adhesive, a nail gun, and drywall screws to secure each arch to the wall.

After the arches were cut and installed, Nida used joint compound all over the walls to create a textured effect.

Once the joint compound dried, Nida added a lime wash the walls to give them the look of old-world plaster. Nida also installed box beams to add even more interest overhead. “The beams were a little hard because it required two people to hold it up,” Nida says — thankfully, her husband was able to lend a hand. The two projects totaled $500, and made a huge impact.

Nida also swapped out the clunky, dated fan for a sleek new one that keeps the room beautiful as well as comfortable.

After all the DIYs were done, Nida filled the room with comfy furniture and laid out a cozy rug. She also added a sconce to the wall — perfect for when her guests want to curl up with a book.

Now that this room has the look of a luxury hotel, it’s hard to imagine that anyone could resist chilling here. In fact, Nida might actually have trouble getting guests to leave!
